Year of the Kazakh Cheetah 2022!

2022 is the year of the cheetah in Kazakhstan's Zodiac Chronology.

The Kazakh zodiac calendar rotates every twelve years.

The kazakh zodiac signs are: rat, cow, cheetah, rabbit, snail, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, chicken, dog, wild boar.

Regarding the ordering of the animals of the zodiac, Kazakhstan has a unique legend: legend has it that a long time ago, many animals gathered together to know the quality of the upcoming year, so decided to have a contest to see who saw the arrival of the new year first. Since then, the year has been named in the order in which the animals see the new year. Because of their tall size, the camels were the most likely to see them first, but the rats sneaked into the camel's ears and eventually saw the New Year before any other animal, and the camels walked away in a fit of anger.

Therefore, the Kazakhs have a proverb: "Although the camel is large, it does not have it in the twelve genera.".

At the end of 2021, the Central Bank of Kazakhstan released a set of commemorative coins for the "Year of the Cheetah 2022" in the series of commemorative coins of the Zodiac.

The new edition of the "Year of the Cheetah" commemorative coin is denominated at 500 tenge and is divided into two styles: gold coins and silver coins. The obverse of the commemorative coin is a variety of different constellations of celestial star symbols, and the words Haven АА А СТАН РЕСПУБЛЛИКААСЫ and the English REPUBLIC of KAZAKHSTAN; the reverse is a cheetah totem surrounded by the patterns of 11 other zodiac signs.

The "Year of the Cheetah" commemorative coin gold coin is 999 gold, each gold coin weighs 7.78 grams and has a diameter of 21.87 mm, and will issue 1000 pieces; the silver coin is 925 silver, weighs 31.1 grams, and has a diameter of 38.61 mm, and 3000 pieces will be issued.
