Today there is also a cave called the "Ear of Dionysius" at the Paradise Quarry in Syracuse, which is 29 meters high and 70 meters deep, and is S-shaped. The cave is amazing because of its magical sound effects, many tourists sing in unison in the cave, and people outside can hear it very clearly.

In 1608, the great Italian painter Caravaggio went into exile in Sicily and told us the story of a tyrant. Dionysius the Elder took advantage of the perfect acoustics inside the cave to eavesdrop on the conversations of the prisoners imprisoned in the cave in a small room above.

During World War II, the U.S. military eavesdropped on the conversations of German soldiers in prison and published a book.

Syracuse (i.e., Syracuse) became synonymous with a dictatorial form of government.

The great German existentialist philosopher Heidegger of the 20th century actively supported and advocated the Nazis. After World War II, his colleague asked him, "Did you come from Syracuse?" ”

The streets of the old town of Syracuse are very smelly, but they are very narrow, and if I had not seen the pictures beforehand, the cathedral square suddenly appeared in front of me, which would have shocked me. It is the most magnificent square I have ever seen in Sicily, and it is rare even in the whole of Italy.

I still remember the young woman Marina in "The Beautiful Legend of Sicily" walking around the Cathedral Square in high heels, the square is empty and misty.

In the 17th century, a Baroque artistic style emerged in European painting and architecture. The Baroque architecture is majestic and exaggerated, and the façade is dynamic, with palatial decorative carvings and strong colors, using the environment as a stage to show its majesty on a large scale.

The Baroque architecture on the Cathedral Square in Syracuse is so typical that it is called the "Baroque City".

The stained glass of Siracusa Cathedral is not large, but under the sunlight, it is surrounded by many colors such as red, yellow, blue and green. As soon as we entered the church, it gave us the illusion of an artificial stage effect, and everything was filled with holy and energetic colors.

The Church of St. Lucie on the Piazza del Duomo houses a masterpiece by the great Italian Baroque painter Caravaggio, The Funeral of St. Lucy. Caravaggio was grumpy, and one day in May 1606 he led a group beating in Rome, killing one man and seriously wounding himself, then fled south to Naples, then to the island of Malta, and finally to Sicily, where he stayed for a year.

Saint Lucy was born in Syracuse, ancient Rome, and was persecuted for her Christian faith and committed suicide by slitting her throat with a sword.

In the painting, St. Lucy is located in the center of the light source, mysteriously lying, with caravaggio's characteristic cinematic expressiveness, although the film does not appear until much later.
