According to South Korean media reports, South Korea's women's short track speed skater and Olympic champion Shen Xixi, who was previously banned by the South Korean Skating Union for two months, gave up his appeal and basically missed the Beijing Winter Olympics.

On December 21, the Korean Skating League ruled that Shen Xixi's text message exchanges with the coach were detrimental to the image of the association, and imposed a two-month ban on Shen Xixi. The ban will run until February 20, 2022, during which Shen Xixi will not be able to represent the national team, and the Beijing Winter Olympics will open on February 4, 2022, so if the ban is finally established, Shen Xixi will miss the Beijing Winter Olympics.

Shen Xixi was accused of colliding with teammate Choi Min Jing in the women's 1000m Group A final at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics short track speed skating, but the ruling held that this accusation was not sufficiently substantiated.

According to the relevant regulations, December 29 is the final appeal period, but Shen Xixi chose to give up. Although Shen Xixi can still put forward a request to suspend the execution of punishment, according to The Korean media analysis, the probability of success is very low, and the Pyeongchang Winter Olympic champion will most likely miss the Beijing Winter Olympics.
