US: From 10 days to 5 days? Experts questioned the new guidelines for COVID-19 quarantine in the United States

According to the new guidelines released by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the recommended isolation period for asymptomatic infected people with the new crown virus has been reduced by half from the previous one, from 10 days to 5 days, but masks must be worn when sharing with others within 5 days after the end of isolation. Health experts questioned and warned that enforcing this quarantine standard could lead to more infections.

U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention Director Vronsky explained that the isolation period was shortened because studies showed that up to 90% of the new crown virus transmission occurred within 5 days of infection, and only a small number of new crown patients were willing to strictly follow the guidelines and quarantine for 10 days. "So in the 5 days of quarantine, your ability to spread the virus may have been released by 85 to 90 percent."

For the new guide, though, experts don't buy it. There are three main points of contention: whether the study of the mutant strain Aomi Kerong supports the practice of shortening the quarantine period, the new guidelines do not distinguish between those who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 and those who have not been vaccinated, and the third is that people are not required to be tested for covid-19 before they are released from isolation.
