The annual Pantone Annual Pop Color once again rings the New Year's bell ahead of schedule. On December 8, 2021, local time, the color authority Pantone released the 2022 annual representative color, which is the vibrant periwinkle blue - Pantone 17-3938 Very Peri periwinkle blue, which is the first time Pantone has put aside the pre-selection file and developed a new color for the annual representative color. With violet red as the background color, plus blues, healing and dreamy. It seems to be a popular color that has been "developed" to lead the color trend, but in fact, this color has long existed in nature, just like in the field of natural diamonds, it is called "panda" color.

If the color has a rank, then the blue-purple must be the king level in the natural diamond world. People have always been under the impression that natural diamonds are colorless or white, this miracle created by nature, they are formed in the depths of the earth, after billions of years of high temperature and pressure conditions, is a kind of elemental crystal composed of carbon elements. In the formation of natural diamonds, the internal crystal structure is deformed or contains a trace of specific chemical elements, and natural fancy color diamonds of various colors are formed. In general, natural fancy color diamonds are rarer and more precious than common colorless diamonds or white diamonds.
As an extremely rare presence in the natural diamond world, natural purple diamonds are like pandas in nature, rare and precious. Unlike other natural fancy color diamonds, purple natural diamonds are not formed by chemical elements, but as a result of the plastic deformation of diamond crystals. Only in the process of its formation, for some reason caused by the change and distortion of the atomic structure of its octahedron, natural diamonds appear purple luster.

Above is a heart-cut diamond found in Russia, weighing 7.34 carats. It is the largest known natural purple diamond with a fancy cut and is currently one of the most famous purple diamonds in the world. The heart-shaped cut is the origin of the name "purple heart".

Most of the world's existing purple natural diamonds come from Australia, and in 2016 the famous Argyle Diamond Mine discovered the largest natural purple diamond to date – a 9.17 ct rough purple natural diamond. When it first came out, it was speculated that it would be valued at 50 times the price of ordinary white diamonds. Cut and polished, it transforms into a 2.83 ct oval cut natural purple diamond and is named Argyle Violet.

It is worth mentioning that although they are called "purple diamonds", there are actually two different color classifications: one is purple diamonds, such as the "royal purple heart"; the other is violet diamonds , which describe natural purple diamonds with gray-blue hues, like "Argyll violet diamonds". A 2017 natural purple diamond called "Blue Fancy Blue Purple Diamond" exhibited at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles in 2017 is different from the first two, this natural purple diamond is more inclined to pink purple, pale pink and violet hues blend into a unique beauty.

The sparkling light hidden deep in the carbon lattice of each natural diamond chronicles the long history of our blue planet. The global annual production of purple natural diamonds is less than 100 carats, which is another "miracle" of nature. Although most natural purple diamonds are only slightly purple in pink or blue, this "panda" color in the natural diamond world is the most beautiful embodiment of preciousness and elegance from the moment it blooms.
After reading these natural purple diamonds that are valuable and rare enough to be comparable to "pandas", I sincerely lament that nature is a magician. Its magic lies not only in the color, but also in the natural diamonds presented to us – such a vehicle that will last a long time. After walking through the extraordinary 2021, the sunshine and rain and dew take away the haze of the past, nourish every life, and also make people glow with more love and expectation for the future. People are more in awe of the mysterious natural world, and the stars, mountains, seas, animals and plants have become people's inspiration in life.
The Natural Diamond Association's Spring/Summer 2022 Natural Diamond Jewelry Fashion Report features five fashion trends
When interpreting the release of Pantone's popular colors, experts said: Periwinkle blue represents the transformation we are experiencing and the symbol of the global spirit at this moment. On November 15, 2021, the Natural Diamond Council mentioned this view when it released its Spring/Summer 2022 Natural Diamond Jewelry Fashion Report. After listening to the fashion people's thinking on the design trend and the interpretation of the meaning of natural diamonds, five design trends of natural diamond jewelry in the spring and summer of 2022 were summarized: "Return to Nature", which carries the charm and mysterious ingenuity of nature, "Self-pleasure", which symbolizes the free spirit of contemporary women, "Rigidity and Softness" under the rise of non-sexism, "Color Sparkle", which refracts the colorful imagination of a better life, and "Stars Holding the Moon" single-center stone natural beauty diamond that returns to the focus of fashion. If pantone leads the way, there is no doubt that the Natural Diamond Association has led the jewelry trend.
Plato said, "Natural diamonds are a life." "So wherever it goes, it illuminates everything and gives crowns, rings, bracelets, swords and even beautiful women a unique brilliance." That being the case, something like this is certainly unique and difficult to replicate. Even the inventor Edison lamented, "In my laboratory, there are two things that can't be made, one is a natural diamond and the other is a pearl." "The same luminescence can make electric lights, but not natural diamonds."
