On December 27, 2021, the 12th anniversary of the discovery of Cao Cao's Gaoling tomb in Xigaoxiao Village, Anyang, Henan, was first made public, and Anyang City announced at the Anyang Cultural and Tourism Cultural and Creative Integration Development Promotion Conference that the Cao Cao Gaoling Museum plans to be fully opened to the public on May 1, 2022, with Liu Qingzhu, a famous archaeologist and former director of the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, as honorary curator, and the position of executive curator is open to recruitment nationwide.

Since the discovery was announced in 2009, Cao Cao's Gaoling Tomb in Anyang has attracted much attention from all walks of life. According to media reports, Cao Cao's Gaoling will be fully built into a Three Kingdoms Cultural Heritage Park, becoming an important platform for studying the culture of the Three Kingdoms and the history of the Han and Wei Dynasties. The Cao Cao Gaoling Museum, which will open next year, will be the first phase of the site cultural park, located in Area A, mainly for the display of Cao Cao's life deeds and cultural relics. In 2019, the main building of the museum was completed, and the cultural relics entered the installation stage.

Although Cao Cao's Gaoling tomb has been excavated repeatedly, a number of cultural relics have been excavated, and about 250 pieces have been restored. The most important of these is the inscribed stone plaque that helps determine the identity of the tomb owner, which is in the shape of a gui, which is engraved with "Euphorbia of the Tiger commonly used by the King of Wei Wu" and "The Short Spear of the Tiger often used by the King of Wei Wu".
