The Hong Kong Asia-Pacific Designer Competition is centered in Hong Kong, based on the Asia-Pacific region, covering the world, known as the "Rolls-Royce" in the design award, and the industry respects it as one of the most influential design competitions in the world. The 2021 Hong Kong Asia-Pacific Designer Competition attracted 116 top international designers from more than 20 countries.
It is understood that Sixing County is the "hometown of China's walled building culture", according to incomplete statistics, there are more than 450 enclosures (including ruins) in the county, and there are 249 well-preserved ones, of which 91 are qing dynasty enclosures and 158 are surrounded by the Republic of China, which are scattered in the places where Hakka people live in the county. Among them, Mantang Hakka Dawei is the representative of the county's walled buildings, the most complete of the more than 200 well-preserved Hakka walled buildings in Sixing County, and one of the largest Hakka walled houses in Guangdong Province, with the reputation of "the first wall in Lingnan". Mantang Hakka Dawei is located in Aizi Town, Sixing County, was founded in the 16th year of Qing Daoguang (1836), covering an area of 13,860 square meters and a construction area of 34,010 square meters. In 1996, it was selected as the fourth batch of national key cultural relics protection units. In 2020, Mantang Hakka Tai Wai Tourist Area was rated as a national 4A-level tourist attraction.
Deng Huashan told the author that his hometown was next to the enclosure, and when he was a child, the enclosure was the place where he and his friends played every day. Siheung WaiLou is not only a characteristic building, but also a carrier of traditional culture, with the growth of the years, Deng Huashan hopes to use his expertise to express the wailou in an artistic form through the form of micro-carving, so that more people can understand the Siheung wailou culture, and promote the spread and inheritance of Siheung Hakka culture and enclosure culture. To this end, since 2019, he has visited the countryside of Sixing, constantly photographing, mapping and recording the surrounding buildings in Sixing. "In order to completely reproduce the bricks and tiles of the enclosure, I often stay in the full hall of Hakka for a day, where the rooms, doors and windows, flowers, birds, and animal patterns have given me unlimited imagination." Deng Huashan said that the full hall of Hakka Dawei inspired his enthusiasm for creation. In addition to the hakka Dawei miniature carving works, Deng Huashan also spent a full 8 months to produce 16 representative Si Hing Wai Lou miniature carving works. With the support and help of the local government, these miniature sculptures are currently displayed in the Chang'an Wailou Branch of the Grace Study Room, and are open to the public in the form of the Wailou Cultural Experience Hall for the majority of tourists to visit.
