It's really time to "lick the screen"! Japan has developed a TV where you can taste it

Financial Associated Press (Shanghai, editor Niu Zhanlin) news, recently a Japanese professor developed a "can taste the taste" of the TV screen prototype, which is also a step to create a multi-sensory viewing experience.

The device, called Taste the TV (TTTV), uses a carousel of 10 flavor cans that are sprayed in combination to create the flavor of a specific food. When the user selects the food he wants to taste on the screen, the corresponding spray is sprayed on the plastic film hidden in the device, allowing the user to directly lick the screen to eat the taste. If they don't want to touch the screen directly with their tongue, users can also choose to spray spray on disposable plastic trays.

Yoshiaki Miyashita, a professor at Meiji University in Japan, said that in the era of the new crown epidemic, this technology can enhance people's connection and interaction with the outside world.

"Our goal is for people to experience dining in restaurants on the other side of the world, even when they stay at home," he said. ”

Miyashita worked with a team of about 30 students who produced a variety of flavor-related equipment, including forks that made the food taste richer. He said he made his own TTTV prototype in the past year, and the commercial version cost about 100,000 yen ($875) to make.

Professor Miyashita also said that the device may be useful for novice sommeliers and chefs, and use scenarios such as distance learning, wine tasting games and quizzes.

Miyashita has also been in talks with companies to apply his technology to certain areas, such as a device that can coat pizza or chocolate flavors on a slice of toast.

He also wants to create a platform where users can download and enjoy flavors from around the world, just like music is now. Professor Miyashita asserted: "Just like sharing videos and music, the taste you have tasted can also be shared with others, and such days are not far away." ”
