It is understood that in 1982, Qingyuan introduced maitake varieties from Japan, and in the same year, wild maitake flowers were collected in Qingyuan Yangqiao, and began the domestication and introduction of wild maitake cultivation experiments. Huangtian Town introduced maitake planting in 1986, and after more than 30 years of continuous domestication research, it has explored a successful model of cultivating maitake flowers in greenhouses under natural conditions, and is currently the only maitake production area in Zhejiang Province.

With the continuous maturity of maitake planting technology and the continuous expansion of the demand market, maitake has become the pillar industry of Huangtian Town, 90% of the country's maitake flowers are produced in Huangtian Town, in 2009 Huangtian Town was awarded the title of "China's Maitake Town" by the China Edible Mushroom Association, and in 2014, "Qingyuan Maitake" won the National Agricultural Product Geographical Indication Certification.
