Whenever the school is closed, they will take their children to the Eastern Suburbs Park, and choose to enter from the west gate every time they go. Although the west gate is only an iron gate, there is no majestic and beautiful main gate located on the south side, but stepping into the iron gate, you are greeted by two rows of neat rows of Metasequoia, arranged on both sides of the road three meters wide, from the west gate to the east gate. Therefore, this road is named "Metasequoia Promenade". Most of these Metasequoia stems are straight, thick and strong, like warriors defending the motherland, always giving people an inexplicable sense of security. Walking on this long corridor, the noise of the city seems to be much weaker, and the mind can finally be calmed and stretched.
Metasequoia can be a rare relict plant in the world, known as a "living fossil". As far back as the Mesozoic Cretaceous Period, Metasequoia plants have appeared on the earth. Metasequoia fossils have been found in Europe, North America, and East Asia, and it was previously widely believed that this species was extinct. In the 1940s, Chinese botanists once again discovered this ancient and rare tree species in Hubei, Sichuan and other places, and then continuously introduced it to all parts of the country, and even many countries and regions in Africa, Europe, and the Americas have also been introduced and cultivated, becoming one of the important tree species of urban green flowers.
These tall Metasequoia trees in the Eastern Suburbs Park were introduced at the beginning of the founding of the People's Republic of China. In order to allow these trees to thrive in an environment far from their homeland, the staff built a shallow canal close to the metasequoia root, connecting these Metasequoias like a rope. In the spring and summer, there is a steady stream of water that nourishes the Metasequoia and adds to the fun for visitors. Watching the children put paper boats and leaves into the water, jumping and running excitedly according to the current, grandparents and parents smiled happily.
I've been following these Metasequoias for a few years. No matter what the season, when you go to the Eastern Suburbs Park, you will never forget to look at these Metasequoias.
The Metasequoia in spring is calm and does not covet vanity. When the scent of early spring awakens the scattered weeds on the ground, and they stick out their heads in clusters of urgency; when the faint pink peach blossoms are dotted with branches and the peonies are dazzling and attract many tourists, the Metasequoia still waits quietly. It has no interest in fighting for the favor and praise of tourists with those humble weeds, the little shrubs that like to show off to people, it is quietly drawing the power of spring, it is silently dredging every blood vessel in the body. You know? Only those who have been paying attention can see the newborn buds of Metasequoia. The yellow-green tip of the tooth, the brown-gray skin of the top branch, broke out of the shell, and many people thought that it had dried up. Life is so tenacious, life is so incredible. However, most people just suddenly find that the bare branches suddenly turn emerald green.
When the Metasequoia is wrapped in thick green, it is summer, and the metasequoia is cool and refreshing underneath. However, for most visitors, the reason to come to the Eastern Suburbs Park in the summer should be water rafting. Whether you are in love or a couple with a pair of children, you can rent a small boat, listen to dynamic music, and sway on the lake. After paddling, you can also buy two packs of fish food, feed the colorful fish, and take the children on the tram. Still, quiet people, like me, still don't like the noisy modern atmosphere. Luckily, to the north of the lake is the Metasequoia Promenade. For most visitors, this promenade is just a passage in and out, and they don't pay much attention to Metasequoia and don't stop here. Only people like me like to take children from the west to the east and enjoy the coolness under the Metasequoia. Then, let the children play outdoors on the north side of the promenade and savor the growth of the tree for themselves: the base of the tree protrudes with a bulging longitudinal color of brown and red, like a bodybuilder showing muscles; a young branch emerges from the trunk of the tree, which is particularly eye-catching; and the rope that is tied to it has been strangled with bloated scars, and the rope is estimated to have been for many years...
Autumn is yellow and depressed. When the wind began to blow from the north, the temperature in the summer began to slowly drop. The flowers and trees in the park smelled the cold breath of the wind early on- the ginkgo biloba leaves turned golden and soon fell in a hurry; the willow trees by the lake also unloaded their leaf decorations early; and the grass slowly shrunk into the soil... The green is quietly exiting, but visitors can always find a place to play – and the birch forest is a good choice. In just a few days, all the birch leaves fell, forming a layer on the ground, enough to drown the soles of the feet. Step on the leaves and listen to the creaks; grab a handful of leaves and throw them into the sky, then watch the leaves fall in all directions. The children are willfully frolicking, and the adults are no longer restraining the children at this moment, allowing them to play. So, what about Metasequoia at this time? Don't ignore the Metasequoia this season, she is the most beautiful! Her leaves turned crimson and crimson, and from a distance, they looked like beams of exuberant flames, burning between heaven and earth. In the midst of autumn, only Metasequoia is burning with passion, is it fighting against the cold wind? Is it an effort to create a spectacle for a nearly desolate park? Indeed, because of the Metasequoia, autumn in the eastern suburbs is less deserted. Even in late autumn, although the red color of Metasequoia gradually becomes lighter, the gray-black trunks of the trees appear in a faint red at this time, which also gives people the feeling of Chinese landscape painting.
Winter in the north is cold, but how can the cold restrain the hearts of tourists. In winter, Dongjiao Park is still a popular place for tourists. Now that the lake is frozen, clever managers have changed their rowing to skating, and it is very lively again. There are couples sitting on the sliding chair and waving the pole in their hands, enjoying the sweet taste; there are fathers and children, experiencing the excitement of skating on the ice; there are also children with old fathers and mothers, reminiscing about the fun of childhood. This lake has become the core of the winter park. In contrast, the Metasequoia Promenade appears much more silent. The pale red leaves were blown away by the cold wind, but then the trunk could be seen clearly, which was straight and straight, and even the branches that grew around it were "sword pointing to the sky". In the chaotic city, people who are lost and inferior to life face Metasequoia and reflect on themselves. Then regain your spirit, make a slight correction and rush to the chaotic city again, running for life and striving for ideals.
