Bamariang mineral water was detected to contain more bromate than the standard Response: This batch of product has been recalled

Recently, the Jiangsu Provincial Market Supervision and Administration Bureau reported that it has completed 754 batches of provincial food safety supervision and sampling tasks, involving grain processing products, meat products, beverages, catering food, etc., according to the national food safety standards inspection and judgment, of which 742 batches of qualified products and 12 batches of unqualified samples have been sampled.

Among the unqualified samples are drinking natural mineral water produced by Guangxi Bama Lilang Beverage Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Bama Lilang"), which was sampled and detected in Wuxi Auchan Supermarket with a specification of 500ml/bottle, and the production date was December 4, 2020. The unqualified items are that bromate does not meet the national standards for food safety. The initial inspection institution is Jiangsu Provincial Institute of Product Quality Supervision and Inspection, and the re-inspection institution is Jiangsu Food and Drug Supervision and Inspection Institute.

Detailed information shows that the bromate in natural mineral water is a by-product of water source water after ozone disinfection. "Drinking Natural Mineral Water" (GB 8537-2008) stipulates that the bromate content in natural mineral water ≤ 0.01mg/L, while the bromate content of this batch of Parmelium mineral water is 0.016 mg/L. Long-term drinking of natural mineral water with a high content of bromate may have a certain impact on human health.

Jiangsu Provincial Market Supervision and Administration Bureau released unqualified product information

Some experts have introduced that under normal circumstances, the water does not contain bromate, but generally contains bromide, when the water is disinfected with ozone, the bromide reacts with ozone, and bromate is formed after oxidation. The International Center for Research on Cancer (IARC) believes that potassium bromate has a carcinogenic effect on laboratory animals, but the carcinogenic effect of bromate on humans is not yet certain, so it lists bromate as a substance that may be carcinogenic to humans.

For mineral water detected to contain carcinogens, Bama Lilang responded to the Red Star Capital Bureau that the same batch of mineral water produced on December 4 last year has been recalled and re-tested, and now the market is selling the latest batch produced in 2021, which can be drunk normally.

Bama Lilang said: "After the test in Jiangsu exceeded the standard, we recalled it for re-inspection, and the inspection in Guangxi and Shenzhen was qualified and met the requirements." For fear of impacting the customer experience, we recalled them all. Sorry to bring trouble to consumers, the company will also strengthen quality control, hope that customers and friends can drink our water at ease. ”

According to the Tianyancha APP, Bama Lilang was established in January 2006 with a registered capital of 30 million yuan, the legal representative and chairman is Wang Huaqiao, and the water source is located in Changlushan, Natao Township, Bama Yao Autonomous County. The company's official website claims that the drinking water it produces belongs to high-level natural mineral water, and has initially established a marketing network in the country, taking the lead in the same industry through the ISO9001: 2008 quality management system certification, ISO22000 international standard food safety management system certification HACCP system certification, national export food hygiene management system certification, etc., and the construction scale ranks in the forefront of Drinking Water Enterprises in Guangxi.

However, Bama Lilang is not the first time that quality problems have occurred, as early as June 25, 2018, BaMa Lilang was punished by the former Guangxi Hechi Food and Drug Administration for producing drinking natural mineral water with bromate content exceeding the limit of food safety standards, and the penalty document was Heshi Food and Drug Supervision Food Penalty [2018] No. 40.
