Diling flower pigs are native to Diling Village, Lejiang Township, Longsheng Autonomous County, Guilin City, and are now farmed in 10 townships and towns in the county, including Longsheng Town, Longji Town and Surabaya Township, with a total protected area of 2,371 square kilometers and an annual feeding capacity of 206,000 heads.
Dilinghua pigs have a long history of breeding in Longsheng. According to the "Longsheng County Chronicle" (1990 edition), the Diling Flower Pig is the local traditional pig source of Longsheng, which originates from the Diling Village of Lejiang Township, known as "The Thousands of Diling Flower Pigs", so it is called "Diling Flower Pig". Because of its characteristics of rough feeding resistance, strong disease resistance, and fragrant and tender meat, it is one of the most popular pig breeding varieties in the local area. In January 2017, the Dilinghua pig was registered and protected by the National Geographical Indication of Agricultural Products.
Longsheng territory of mountains overlap, streams and rivers everywhere, large and small streams reached more than 480, forest coverage rate of 78.61%, the production area of abundant rainfall, warm climate, superior environment suitable for the growth of Linghua pigs. The diling flower pig is fed with corn, sweet potatoes, rice bran and other crops, and pork is rich in protein, selenium, potassium, zinc, amino acids and other nutrients.
In recent years, Longsheng attaches great importance to the protection and development of the DilingHua Pig, and at the same time continuously increases the industrial support and capital investment, which makes the characteristic brand awareness of the DilingHua Pig continue to increase. At present, this industry has become one of the main means for farmers to increase production and income.
