Eric Patrick Clapton (30 March 1945) was a British guitarist, singer and composer.
A former Grammy Award winner, he was one of the most successful musicians of the 20th century and has had three achievements in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Boyhood
Eric Clapton was born in Ripley, Surrey, England, where Clapton was raised by his grandmother, who as a child agreed that his grandmother was his biological mother, until he discovered the secret at the age of 9. In middle school, he attended Serbeton.
On his 13th birthday, he received a gift – a steel-string guitar. He tried hard to practice with the cassette machine, but he found it so difficult to play the instrument that he almost gave up. After graduating from secondary school, he took the Foundation of Arts course at kingston college of art (the predecessor of Kingston University) in 1962.

In 1999, Clapton auctioned off some of his guitars from his collection, totaling $500 million, to the Crossroads Centre, a medical center he founded in 1997 to treat drug addicts and alcoholics. In 2004, Clapton participated in the Crossroads Center Guitar Festival to raise funds for the Center Charity Show. Another auction was held on June 24, 2004, and the lots included guitars from the Cream Band's collection and guitars from other good friends, raising a total of $7,438,624.
