During the reporting period, Douyu achieved revenue of 2.337 billion yuan, compared with 2.508 billion yuan in the same period of 2020, adjusted net loss of 145 million yuan, and net profit of 319 million yuan in the same period of 2020.

In terms of user data, the average monthly active users of the mobile terminal in the second quarter of Douyu were 60.7 million, an increase of 3.9% year-on-year, a record high. However, the average number of paying users during the reporting period decreased by 400,000 to 7.2 million compared with the same period last year.

In terms of revenue composition, Douyu's revenue from live broadcasting business was 2.178 billion yuan, compared with 2.320 billion yuan in the same period last year; revenue from advertising and others was 159 million yuan, compared with 188 million yuan in the same period last year.

For the overall decline in revenue, Douyu explained in the financial report that last year was affected by the epidemic, whether it is the consumption time of users or the marketing expenditure of game advertisers is relatively high. With the normalization of the epidemic, the revenue brought by these aspects has also declined accordingly.

During the reporting period, the revenue cost of Douyu was 2.030 billion yuan, compared with 1.985 billion yuan in the same period of 2020. Although the total revenue has declined compared with the same period last year, the revenue cost of Douyu is relatively stable, so Douyu still achieved a gross profit of 306 million yuan and a gross profit margin of 13.1%.

In the second quarter, the cost of This part of Douyu increased by 3% year-on-year to 1.807 billion yuan, mainly due to Douyu's increase in the copyright of e-sports events, the production of PGC content and the placement of high-quality streaming media in overseas markets.

In addition, due to the upgrading of internal technology, the broadband cost of Douyu in the second quarter fell by 3.9% to 161 million yuan from 168 million yuan in the same period of 2020.

In addition to the cost of revenue, other expenses of Douyu in the second quarter also increased year-on-year. For example, sales and marketing expenses were 295 million yuan, compared with 142 million yuan in the same period last year; research and development expenses were 123 million yuan, compared with 95 million yuan in the same period last year. In the case of declining revenue, the increase in these expenses also led to the loss of Douyu.

However, the high investment of Douyu has also been exchanged for an increase in the richness of content. In terms of e-sports, according to incomplete statistics, in the second quarter alone, Douyu has broadcast more than 50 official large-scale events such as the LPL Spring Finals, LPL Summer, 2021 League of Legends Mid-Season Championships, KPL Spring Finals, etc., and has produced more than 80 e-sports events.

At the same time, in addition to live broadcasting, Douyu has also expanded the functions of video, graphics, community, etc., and at the same time accommodates UGC, PUGC, PGC (user, anchor, official) content.
