Shanghai yesterday added 1 new case of local asymptomatic infection

On December 19, according to the WeChat public account of the Shanghai Health Commission, at 0-24:00 on December 18, 2021, 14 new confirmed cases of imported new coronary pneumonia were reported through the joint prevention and control mechanism at ports. Cases 1 and 2 are both Chinese nationals, Case 1 is working in Zambia, departing from Zambia, Case 2 is working in Guinea, departing from Guinea, Case 1 and Case 2 transit through Ethiopia, taking the same flight, arriving at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on December 14, 2021, and after entering customs, they were placed under centralized isolation and observation, during which they developed symptoms. Combined with epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests, and imaging findings, the diagnosis is confirmed as a confirmed case.

Case 3, a Chinese national working in El Salvador, departed from El Salvador, transited through Spain, arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on 14 December 2021, and was placed under centralized quarantine and observation after entering customs, during which he developed symptoms. Combined with epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests, and imaging findings, the diagnosis is confirmed as a confirmed case.

Case 4-Case 6 are all Chinese nationals, Case 4 visits relatives in the United States, Case 5 lives in the United States, Case 6 studies in the United States, Case 7 is a resident of Taiwan, studying in the United States, Case 4-Case 7 departs from the United States, takes the same flight, and arrives at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on December 14, 2021, Case 4 is sent to a designated medical institution for isolation and observation after entering customs because of symptoms, and Case 5-Case 7 is under centralized isolation and observation after entering customs, during which symptoms appear. Combined with epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests, and imaging findings, the diagnosis is confirmed as a confirmed case.

Case 8 is a Chinese national, working in Sri Lanka, departed from Sri Lanka, arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on 4 December 2021, was placed under centralized isolation and observation after entering customs, and when symptoms appeared before the isolation was lifted, he was sent to a designated medical institution for isolation and investigation. After consultation with the expert group, the diagnosis was confirmed as a confirmed case based on the epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests and imaging test results.

Combined with epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests, and imaging findings, the diagnosis is confirmed as a confirmed case.

Case 13, a Chinese national working in Papua New Guinea, departed from Papua New Guinea, transited through Australia, arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on 15 December 2021, and was placed under centralized isolation and observation after entering customs, during which he developed symptoms. Combined with epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests, and imaging findings, the diagnosis is confirmed as a confirmed case.

Case 14, a Chinese national working in Russia, departed from Russia and arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on 17 December 2021, where he was placed under centralized quarantine and observation after entering customs, during which he developed symptoms. Combined with epidemiological history, clinical symptoms, laboratory tests, and imaging findings, the diagnosis is confirmed as a confirmed case.

14 imported confirmed cases have been transferred to designated medical institutions for treatment, and 307 close contacts of the same flight have been traced, and all of them have been implemented for centralized isolation and observation.

The asymptomatic infected person, male, 61 years old. Formerly residing in Germany, he was diagnosed with COVID-19 and hospitalized in May 2021. On December 17, due to the need to go out, he went to the hospital to conduct a nucleic acid test for the new crown virus, and the result was positive. At present, 37 close contacts of the asymptomatic infected person in the city have been traced, and all of them have been implemented for centralized isolation and observation. Places where asymptomatic infected people have been active have been terminally disinfected.

As of 24:00 on December 18, 2021, the cumulative number of imported confirmed cases was 2,571, 2,476 were discharged from hospital, and 95 cases were treated in hospital. There are currently 5 suspected cases to be investigated.
