Fang Daolong was born in 1914 in Wuhu, Anhui Province, and when he was young, he studied kung fu. In the early years, he made a living in Nanjing, and when he grew up, the Kuomintang ruled Nanjing, and Fang Daolong joined the Kuomintang. Later, because of his good kung fu, he made a lot of merit and was appreciated by an officer named Gu Zhutong in the Kuomintang at that time, and later Gu Zhutong recommended Fang Daolong to Dai Kasa.
Once, when Fang Daolong was on a military command mission, he accidentally caused a gun to go off and the mission failed. Dai Kasa was very angry when he found out, and immediately expelled him from the military command. Fang Daolong also knew the particularity of the military command task, if he continued to stay here, he might be wiped out at some point. So with the help of his friends, he ran to Chongqing, and later returned to Nanjing to start a linen business.
During this period, Fang Daolong married his first wife and had two sons, Fang Shide and Fang Shisheng. Later, when the Kuomintang Civil War broke out, Fang Daolong fled to Hong Kong. In Hong Kong, he met his second wife, Chen Lili, and in order to prevent retaliation, Fang Daolong changed his name to Chen Zhiping.
In 1954, the two gave birth to their own sons. Because he was born in Hong Kong, Fang Daolong named his son Chen Gangsheng, and his family name was Fang Shilong, which was later the international superstar Jackie Chan.
Because Fang Daolong had a good cooking skill, he and his wife found a job as a cook at the U.S. Embassy. Later, when the American ambassador was to be transferred to Australia, he invited Mr. and Mrs. Fang Daolong to go with them, but they could not bring children. Fang Daolong did not want to give up such a good opportunity, so he sent his son to the China Academy of Drama.
Later, Jackie Chan, who was thrown to Hong Kong by his parents, relied on his own efforts to step by step from a small martial artist to the temple of Hollywood, and finally became famous all over the world.
On February 26, 2008, Fang Daolong finally died of advanced prostate cancer in Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital at the age of 93. At that time, Jackie Chan was filming in Beijing and did not send his father on the last journey, which became a regret in Jackie Chan's life.
