However, SongMAX for home users seems to be on the decline, selling only 701 units last month. Today, let's take the top model in the car series - 2021 upgraded version of the 1.5T automatic flagship 6-seat version as an example, interpret the actual product strength of Song MAX in detail, and see if it is the reason for the product force that led to the decline in sales.

Exterior design
In terms of front design, Song MAX uses the family-style "Dragon Face" dragon face design language, and the large-size front grille is built with multiple horizontal chrome trim strips, and the visual impact is sufficient. The "C" shaped outline on the left and right sides appears to be more three-dimensional and powerful, and the lower end is also embellished with a little chrome, which further enhances the fashion sense of the whole vehicle.
In the design of the headlights, Song MAX uses more lines to modify, which is not to say that the style is still very good-looking, and it also has a little majesty. The light group in the lamp cavity uses a special-shaped design and presents a matrix arrangement, and the overall visual effect is better. In terms of lighting configuration, this Song MAX adopts a full LED light source and provides functions such as adaptive near and far light, automatic headlights, adjustable headlight height, and headlight delay off.
Coming to the side, Song MAX's length, width and height are 4710/1810/1680mm, the wheelbase is 2785mm, and the tall waistline runs through the entire body, making the overall look quite powerful. The blackened B-pillars, C-pillars, D-pillars, and chrome trim strips on the upper and lower edges of the windows create a visual sense of the suspended roof for BYD, and the chrome trims of the side skirts also enrich the sophistication of the whole car.
In the rear design, the left and right taillights of the Song MAX are connected with a chrome trim to create a penetrating design effect and further widen the horizontal viewing angle. Interior design
In terms of interior design, the entire center console of BYD Song MAX is relatively simple, and most of the physical buttons are replaced by the 12.8-inch large screen in the center, like air conditioning operation can be adjusted directly on the screen. The silver matte brushed panel behind the screen solves the problem of "collecting" fingerprints on the piano paint panel before, and can also bring a good sense of grade; the three-spoke steering wheel, the lower end of the flat bottom design, reveals a touch of youth, sports. In terms of decorative materials, Song MAX only uses soft materials at the top of the center console, and the lower end is a common hard plastic at this price point, although the feel is average, but the visual texture is not bad.
On the vehicle system, the 12.8-inch central control screen not only has sufficient visual impact, but also provides a wealth of audio and video entertainment functions, such as online music, online radio, online navigation, and OTA upgrades, which can meet the daily driving needs of most users.
In terms of on-board configuration, Song MAX provides 360-degree panoramic imagery, full-speed adaptive cruise, panoramic large sunroof, as well as lane departure warning system, lane keeping assist, road traffic sign recognition, active braking and other intelligent safety configurations. It is worth mentioning that Song MAX also provides NFC/RFID keys, which is rare in the same level.

Mechanical structure
In terms of power, Song MAX is equipped with a 1.5T turbocharged engine, the maximum power is 118kW (160Ps), the maximum torque is 245N·m, the gearbox uses a 6-speed wet dual-clutch transmission, and my driving feeling is decent, the gear shift is not positive, but the power reserve is not much of a problem. However, in my opinion, if you want to accelerate overtaking, it is best to reserve a little advance amount.
Chassis suspension part, Song MAX front axle is the mainstream McPherson type independent suspension, the rear axle is a common torque beam type non-independent suspension, although the configuration level is average, but the overall adjustment is better, not tight nor soft, can ensure comfort, but also in the corner to provide good support.

Through the above aspects, the comprehensive performance of Song MAX is still good, but why is it not selling well? I think most consumers were dissuaded by its rear-torsion beam non-independent suspension. However, from the actual test drive experience, Song MAX's chassis performance is not as crotch-pulling as it seems. Of course, if the official can replace this rear suspension with multiple links, there may be a chance to sell well.
