Gala Games partnered with C2 to set up a $100 million blockchain gaming fund

Recently, at the Galaverse event, Gala Games announced that it has partnered with C2 Ventures to establish a $100 million blockchain gaming fund.

Gala Games is an NFT-focused gaming startup led by Zynga co-founder Eric Schiermeyer. It will partner with C2 Ventures, a new cryptocurrency investment firm, to invest in game developers who are interested in developing new games and expanding content around blockchain technology.

Peter Molyneux, producer of Fables at the same time, announced his next game. The game, called Legacy, is called a "blockchain business simulation game" and is expected to launch next year.

At first glance, Legacy looks more like a standard simulation game, with design, production, trading, and competition at the heart of the game, but these elements have shifted Legacy to the realm of NFTs and cryptocurrencies. LegacyCoin is the foundation of Legacy, the currency in which the game gets "exclusive item NFTs" for trading, and how players get the Legacy key.

"Owning a Land NFT allows you to create your own in-game blockchain business association in Legacy. You'll be able to design your own gameplay while playing Legacy, while lending Legacy Keys to others who want to do in-game business in Legacy, making them your in-game business partners. ”

Due to the ongoing damage caused by games and NFTs to the environment, they are currently under heavy criticism in the gaming industry. The cryptocurrencies used to buy NFTs and the mining of these currencies can lead to millions of carbon dioxide emissions, damaging the Earth's atmosphere.

The producers of The Sims also said at the Galavalse event that their new team members will assist Gala in developing the blockchain VOX metaverse game world.

Certain Affinity, which has partnered with 343 to develop Halo: Infinity, also revealed that they will launch a new game called Last Expedition on the Gala platform. Gala said Certain Affinity aims to combine the quality of AAA FPS with the benefits of blockchain gaming, but did not disclose further details.
