History has told us the answer to the power of nuclear weapons, and since it was developed, it has become a shadow in people's minds. With the continuous development of science and technology, the power of nuclear weapons is increasing, and once a nuclear war occurs, it will be a devastating blow to mankind. The Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons was born to prevent nuclear proliferation, and 189 States have signed the Treaty, all of which are working together for the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.

According to the Russian Satellite News Agency, on December 14, the Stockholm Disarmament Initiative meeting was held in the Swedish capital, with the participation of 16 countries including Spain, Germany, Sweden, Canada, South Korea, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Argentina, Ethiopia, Finland, Indonesia, Norway, New Zealand, the Netherlands and Switzerland. Since 2019, the Stockholm Initiative, which has made it its mission to strengthen the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
The foreign ministers who participated in the initiative mentioned in their speeches the extension of the Strategic Offensive Arms Reduction Treaty between the United States and Russia, the statement of the leaders of Russia and the United States on the inadmissibility of nuclear war after the June summit in Geneva, and the video meeting between the heads of state of China and the United States on November 16. The Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the 16 countries stressed that these events are developing in a positive direction, in line with the measures in the field of nuclear disarmament developed by the Stockholm Initiative.
In addition, the ministers for foreign affairs of 16 countries claimed that the Stockholm Disarmament Initiative had forced the five Nuclear Parties that had signed the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and possessed nuclear weapons to further reduce their nuclear arsenals and assume special responsibilities. All States possessing nuclear weapons are urged not only to reduce their nuclear arsenals, but also to begin discussions on a treaty banning the production of fissile material and to support the development of multilateral nuclear disarmament capability verification.
At the meeting, the foreign ministers of 16 countries repeatedly mentioned China, and the five nuclear-weapon states parties referred to the five permanent members of the Security Council, China, the United States, Russia, France and the United Kingdom. The move by the above 16 countries is clearly a group to force the five permanent members of the Security Council to reduce their nuclear arsenals. The concerns of the 16 countries are not incomprehensible, but it is not easy to reduce the nuclear arsenal of the five permanents, and the United States and Russia are the key to it.
As the first country in the world to commit itself to the non-use of nuclear weapons, China has always advocated the complete prohibition and thorough destruction of nuclear weapons, and has pursued a policy of not advocating, encouraging, or engaging in the proliferation of nuclear weapons and not helping other countries develop nuclear weapons. The 16-nation focus on China at the Stockholm Disarmament Initiative conference is itself misconstructed.
According to the "Weapons Data Released by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute in 2020" report released by the US media, the total number of nuclear warheads owned by the United States in 2020 is 5800, with 6275 from Russia, 320 from China, 290 from France, 215 from the United Kingdom, 150 from India, and 160 from Pakistan. Until 2020, the number of nuclear warheads possessed by China and the United States and Russia is still far from the same, not even a fraction. Therefore, before the above 16 countries target China, should they first look at the United States and Russia?
In addition to the 16 countries targeting China at this meeting, NATO has also asked China to participate in nuclear arms control negotiations, and all of this is inseparable from the fact that the United States has been hyping up China's "nuclear weapons threat" before, and the United States has always been strong in the rhythm of China-related nuclear arms control issues, so that many countries in the world mistakenly believe that China's nuclear weapons have "reached the pinnacle" and "threaten global security." However, everyone has forgotten that in September this year, the "August Alliance" formed by the United States, Britain and Australia, in which the United States and Britain provided nuclear submarine technology to Australia, a non-nuclear power, has violated international law, and as a party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, it is even more illegal to know the law. It is a good thing for the countries of the world to work towards the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, but before taking action, it is all the more important to clearly polish their eyes and see clearly who is the real threat.
