FIFA: Clubs worldwide will pay a total of $500.8 million in intermediary fees in 2021

According to the data in the "International Transfer Intermediary Report" released by FIFA today, the fee paid by global clubs to intermediary services for transfer matters reached $500.8 million in 2021.

According to the data, a total of 17,954 male professional players have completed international transfers in the transfer matching system (TMS), of which 3,545 (19.8%) have transferred at least one intermediary.

Of the $500.8 million in intermediary fees, European clubs accounted for 95.8 percent of spending, with clubs in England ($133.3 million), Germany ($84.3 million), Italy ($73.5 million), Spain ($34.8 million), France ($30.3 million) and Portugal ($29.3 million) accounting for 77% of the world's total.

Although clubs' transfer spending has been shrinking for the second consecutive year (-13.9% in 2021 and -23.4% in 2020), the reduction in transfer spending has not continued to be spent on intermediary fees. The report said that the intermediary service fee remained at the level of 2020, and even increased slightly by 0.7% year-on-year.

According to a separate FIFA report released earlier this year, international transfers have paid a total of $3.5 billion in intermediary fees over the past decade.
