Recently, I went to see my friend Amway's long-standing movie "Endless Climbing".
This film, adapted from a real person and a real story, tells the story of "hardcore uncle" Xia Boyu, who climbed Mount Everest by prosthetic limbs.
From experiencing leg amputations and cancer infestations, to struggling to get up, challenging dreams, to getting more and more frustrated and courageous, climbing Everest. Along the way, he suffered physical, volitional, and family tests, injuring and growing.
Fate cut him off the back road, and he tried to make the road ahead long.

One. Enter the narrow door
In 1975, Xia Boyu, who climbed Mount Everest for the first time, was kind enough to give up his sleeping bag to his teammates, resulting in frostbite on his calves and amputation of his legs.
He was just 26 years old.
Helping others, but ending up with a lifelong disability, the blow can be imagined. Even, years later, in an interview, I was asked: "Have you ever regretted it after all these years?" He still said with some trepidation: In fact, sometimes I still feel heartache when I think about it.
His mood is not difficult to understand, after all, a person who takes mountaineering as the goal of life has lost his legs, just like a boat without oars, can only float aimlessly in the boundless sea.
At that moment, like all those who suffered setbacks, he fell into a deep confusion.
What is the way forward? Can you still stick to your mountaineering dreams? He had no answer.
However, when water reaches the end, it is a landscape, and when people go to a desperate situation, they are reborn.
In the dark, he learned from a foreign expert who came to China that if he put on a prosthesis, he could not only live like a normal person, but also climb the mountain.
In just one sentence, he rekindled his hopes and secretly decided: He must try.
In fact, in that situation, he had every reason to choose to lie flat, find a simple job, and live a peaceful life easily.
But he unexpectedly chose a difficult path.
I have heard a saying: "There are two ways of life, choose the door to take the dangerous road, and pass through the narrow door and the wide road." ”
Choose a wide door, go with the flow, the road behind is easy to go narrower and narrower; choose a narrow door, beg for yourself, but may go out of the way.
And he is the latter kind of person.
After that, he began a long rehabilitation program, constantly challenging his physical limits. Three years later, he put on a prosthesis, stood up, and revived his dream of climbing Everest.
Two. Go the long way
As we all know, climbing Mount Everest is not an easy task, not to mention, he has to rely on prosthetic limbs to climb the mountain, and the perseverance and physical strength he has paid are even more unimaginable.
To strengthen his legs, he developed an almost masochistic routine.
Every morning, I get up at 5 o'clock and practice squatting with a sandbag weight of 10 kilograms, 150 at a time, a total of 10 times; 10 pull-ups in 10 groups; 60 push-ups in 6 groups; 40 sit-ups in 6 groups and so on.
Not only that, but there are three days a week to climb the fragrant mountain, three days of hiking training, forty years as a day, thunder and thunder.
There is no shortcut to success, it is stupid work.
The highly disciplined training gave him better physical strength than ordinary people, and he began to hike across the Gobi and climb the natural rock walls... Even, in 2011, at the first Paralympic Climbing Championships held in Italy, two gold medals were won.
After gaining more and more confidence, he began to try to climb the mountain, getting higher and higher each time, and succeeded each time.
After accumulating years of hard training, he finally had the qualification to climb Mount Everest again.
In reality, there are always people who want to succeed quickly through shortcuts.
As everyone knows, in this world, there is no illusion and luck in ascending to the heavens, only the dedication and persistence of the river.
All the achievements are just the accumulation of "stupid kung fu" bit by bit.

Just like Xia Boyu's life: the day arches a pawn, and then slowly survives.
Three. See Shimmer
In 2014, at the age of 65, Xia Boyu began his second challenge to climb Everest. As a result, the plan was cancelled after encountering the worst mountain disaster in the history of mountaineering in Nepal;
In 2015, when he launched another shock, he encountered another earthquake and avalanche;
In 2016, he climbed Everest for the fourth time and was about to reach the summit, but only 94 meters away from the target, a snowstorm struck.
As the saying goes: There are only three things, but Xia Boyu does not admit his fate.
In December 2017, he was ready to attack his dream again.
Who knows, in January of the following year, there was another ban, and Nepal announced that blind people and amputees would be banned from climbing.
Fortunately, it was only the darkness before dawn. After a series of cumbersome procedures, he finally got a permission to climb.
In 2018, Xia Boyu's fifth trip to the peak began as scheduled.
On May 14, 69-year-old Xia Boyu finally stood on the top of Mount Everest, becoming the first person in China to climb Mount Everest by relying on a leg prosthesis.
From his youth to his age, after 43 years, he finally realized his dream, and he has become an idol in the hearts of countless people.
It is the persistence of ten years of perseverance that has attracted the attention of today's millions of people.
