From this point of view, Weizhou Island has a high degree of similarity with the national treasure "China's First Dragon" (also known as: Jasper C-shaped Dragon): the snout is protruding upwards, the fusiform is slender, the mane is fluttering, the capuchin is powerful, and the body is curled like a hook. More than 5,000 years ago, the Jasper carving of the Hongshan culture appeared in the northern Liaoning West, and the Weizhou volcanic island appeared in the Southern Beibu Bay more than 7,000 years ago, one south and one north, echoing each other.
Looking at the history of Weizhou Island, since it was found that the two are "ill-fated", "China's First Dragon" was treated as scrap copper and rotten iron at the beginning of its discovery, became a children's toy, and then became a 30 yuan object, locked in the box of the local cultural center for more than ten years. Historically, hard volcanic stones and wide-ranging holes have always made Weizhou Island an island inhabited by pirates and a refuge for the poor on the mainland.
Weizhou Island is known as the "unsinkable aircraft carrier" in the Beibu Gulf, and has always been a strategic place that soldiers must fight for. At that time, the Japanese army occupied Weizhou Island for 7 years, becoming an important military base for the Japanese army to further invade and control South China and even Southeast Asian countries. During this period, the Japanese army implemented the "Three Lights Policy", enslaved the islanders, and built fortifications, roads, airports, and docks on the island, and Weizhou Island became the base area for Japanese military aircraft to harass the mainland for a long time.
Deep in the dense forest, Weizhou Island used the form of a sculpture to record the scene of the islanders' long-term resistance, and finally eliminated the last Japanese army on the island in June 1945.
At about 7 o'clock on March 6, 1950, Weizhou Island was liberated.
