After announcing the decision to retire at the press conference, Aguero once again posted a long article on his personal social media about the decision.
Aguero wrote: "I always knew I would do everything I could to get back on the pitch, but after the last check-up, the doctor advised me to stop playing professional football. His words were enough for me to make a decision.
It's difficult to retire in this case, but life always comes first, and for me that was clear from the beginning.
Football has taught me a lot of things, one of which is that losing can turn into victory. This time is the same. The decision was painful, yes, but it wasn't a drama, the drama was meant to be something else. So what I'm focusing on now is not the time I could have continued to play, but the 18 years I've been doing well.
I've had an incredible career, and most importantly, I've been passionate and dedicated all these years. I've been loved by people in every team I've played for since I was a kid, and I went to Indie, Atletico, Manchester City, Barca and my beloved Argentina. With so many fans for their support, I want to thank them, they are always rain or shine, which makes me stronger.
I would like to express my gratitude to all my coaches, colleagues, technicians, doctors and club officials for allowing me to carry out my career in the best possible conditions.
I would like to give a special thanks to my family and friends who have always been by my side. And the agent who has been with me since I was 14 years old and they spent quality time with me. They accompanied me with a very professional and sincere attitude.
In addition to these titles and accolades, my biggest victory was to win the respect of my colleagues and the love of the football world, which will not change, I will always remember, they gave me a lot of strength to meet the upcoming new chapter.
I will usher in a new phase, yes everything will be different, but I will be as always: always positive, enthusiastic and joyful.
Love you guys
