At euro21, a demonstration car with cramicSpeed OHD (Optimized Headset Design) bearings was unveiled, using improved SLT Bearing technology. CeramicSpeed revealed that the technology is being further improved, and will be applied to the head tube bowl group and suspension turning point bearing in the future, starting from the group car factory to the retail market and gradually promoting.
SLT is short for Solid Lubrication Technology, which is described Chinese as solid lubrication technology. In simple terms, no grease is added at all when the bearing is assembled, and lubrication is made up of an injected oil-based solid plastic polymer that keeps the perine beads in place and provides lubrication and protection.
Special lubricating polymers are injected into the bearings to fill the gap between each ball bearing and completely encapsulate each ball bearing. Jonathan Small, OEM sales director at CeramicSpeed, said SLT bearings for the rear shock turning point are at least three times more durable than comparable bearings currently on the market.
Factor is the first brand to benefit from the new SLT bearings, with other OEM partners to be announced in the coming weeks and months.
