Scottish Fantasia is one of the most popular works by the German Romantic composer and conductor Max Bruch. Scottish Fantasia consists of four movements, each of which adopts Scottish folk songs, full of the melodies and flairs of Scottish folk songs. In the melancholy atmosphere rendered by the orchestral music in the first movement, the violin in Zhu Dan's hand played a melodious and touching and slightly sad theme, and immediately grasped all the music lovers on the scene. In the fourth movement, the orchestra and the solo violin play the tune of the ancient Scottish war song, which is high-pitched and agitated. Zhu Dan, 39, was born in Beijing, and at the age of 4 he was trained by his father to learn violin, at the age of 13 he entered the Affiliated High School of the Central Conservatory of Music, and at the age of 16 he received a full scholarship to study at the Mannis Conservatory of Music in New York. Zhu Dan is not only the first Chinese violinist invited to perform solo at the world's three top music festivals in Tangowood, Austria, and Verbier, Switzerland, but also has been called "one of the outstanding Chinese artists leading the international music scene today" by the most authoritative British classical music magazine "Phonograph".
