Zhong Nanshan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said at the forum that in response to the Aomi Kerong mutation, many countries have noticed this problem very early, and have taken measures in more than a dozen cases, and some countries have stricter control measures, which shows that through a period of one or two years, the world has slowly realized that China's approach is right.

Zhong Nanshan believes that at present, in order to control the epidemic more quickly, it is imperative to do three things: one is to achieve herd immunity through vaccination, and to improve antibody levels through vaccination; the second is to continue to increase drug research; the third is to call for global cooperation and science and technology to defeat the epidemic.

Nanshan Zhong: I am confident of building herd immunity by the end of this year

Zhong Nanshan pointed out that for China to achieve theoretical herd immunization, the number of people vaccinated needs to reach 83% of the entire population. At China's current rate of vaccination, there is confidence that herd immunity will be established by the end of this year.

According to the National Health Commission, as of the 11th, 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government) and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps have reported a total of 2,602.703 million doses of covid-19 vaccine.
