Napoleon returns to Paris

In March 1814, the Sixth Coalition of Britain, Russia, Austria, and Prussia invaded Paris, and the French Emperor Bonaparte Napoleon was forced to abdicate and was exiled to the island of Elba in the northern Mediterranean. The Bourbons, which had been overthrown in the French Revolution, were restored under the protection of the Allied bayonets.

The island of Elba covers an area of 223 square kilometers and has a beautiful scenery and a pleasant climate. Napoleon landed on the island with his guards, and he enjoyed complete rule over the island, where he could recuperate and spend the rest of his life.

However, if Napoleon is content with the status quo and submits to the god of fate, then he is not Napoleon.

Napoleon Bonaparte (15 August 1769 – 5 May 1821)

On 1 March 1815, Napoleon evaded the surveillance of the British fleet and the French Bourbon fleet, and led only 1,050 guards to land at the port of Juan in the south of France and advance towards Paris. What kind of army is this? Not a single cannon, let alone the Bourbons with hundreds of thousands of troops, was the first few legions to stop them, and with a single shot of artillery fire, they could all be annihilated; as long as one soldier fired at Napoleon who was at the forefront, he would be killed by a bullet. Therefore, when King Louis XVIII of France heard the news of Napoleon's landing, he just shook his head dismissively and said: "He is simply mad, this is tantamount to suicide!" ”

However, Napoleon was the best able to perform miracles. He ordered his men to all muzzle down, and he himself opened his shirt, exposing his chest, and walked forward step by step firmly. "Soldiers, if any of you want to kill your own emperor, shoot them!" The soldiers who were opposed to him immediately disorganized and rushed to Napoleon, kissing his hands, kissing his face, and making thunderous cheers.

Napoleon continued his advance, and the army ordered to stop him fell on him in its entirety. Louis XVIII had to send Marshal Ney to attack Napoleon. Ney promised, "I'll bring him back in an iron cage!" Ney was Napoleon's most powerful assistant, known as "the bravest of the warriors", and enjoyed great prestige among soldiers. Ney assembled his troops and delivered a speech in which he said: "I was born and died to serve the Emperor. When the emperor abdicated, he personally allowed the marshals to serve the Bourbons. Now he has broken his promise, so we must defeat him! "But the officers and soldiers were dead silent. Soon after, Ney discovered that his artillery unit had mutinied, and even the guards had run to Napoleon. The next day, Napoleon brought Ney a note: "I will receive you as I did after the Battle on the outskirts of Moscow!" Ney gathered his army again and declared his allegiance to Napoleon. Deafening cheers erupted from the army: "Long live the Emperor!" "Long live Marshal Ney!"

On 20 March, Napoleon entered Paris and overthrew the Bourbons without a single shot. A Paris newspaper, during this time, issued the following six messages: "The monsters of Corsica (Napoleon's birthplace) have landed in the port of Juan"; "The Man-Eating Devil is advancing towards Gros"; "The usurper has entered Greb"; "Bonaparte has occupied Lyon"; "Napoleon is approaching Fontainebleau"; "His Majesty will arrive today in Paris faithful to him".

Upon hearing the news, the European powers immediately formed the Seventh Anti-French Alliance and marched towards France. On 18 June, Napoleon was defeated at Waterloo by the Anglo-Prussian forces and forced to abdicate again, shortly after being exiled to st. Helena, suspended in the Atlantic Ocean. On 5 May 1821, Napoleon died on the island, and before his death, he intermittently called: "France... army...... Pioneer..."
