A few days ago, according to overseas media reports, Mercedes-Benz will recall 227 EQS and new S-class models that have been delivered overseas, and the reason for the recall is that many of the functions and applications of these two models can be used normally when the vehicle is running, which will cause driver distraction and safety hazards.
According to documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Mercedes launched an investigation into the issue in November 2021. After investigation, it was found that there were some incorrect settings in the Mercedes-Benz back-end server configuration, so some functions and applications of the MBUX infotainment system were not deactivated as expected while the vehicle was driving. And because the Mercedes-Benz EQS and the new S-Class have larger screens, using these apps while driving further amplifies safety hazards.
The problem will be fixed by Mercedes-Benz through OTA, and users do not need to go to the dealership. However, as of now, the official has not completed communication with the owners of all vehicles within the scope of the recall, and it is not clear whether the accident occurred due to this problem.
