In Japan, Yang Shoujing (1839-1915) was known as the "father of the modernization of Japanese calligraphy" and "the ancestor of the lamp", saying that what he brought to the Japanese book world was a "thunderbolt on a sunny day". This is not a random praise from some people, but a unanimous recommendation of many leading figures in the Field of Japanese Calligraphy.

Yang Shoujing lived in Japan between the ages of 42 and 46. He received many Japanese book circles at the embassy, among which the deepest friendship was Iwatani Shuichiroku, Nishimobe Naruharu, Oka Chishiro Hinyu and others, all of whom were influential figures in the Japanese book world.

After the Japanese book circles came into contact with Yang Shoujing, Yang Zhi yagao often went to his apartment to communicate, the two sides did not understand the language, so they adopted the method of pen talk, fortunately, everyone is familiar with Chinese characters, of which Yang Shoujing and Yan Gu Yiliu's pen talk was included in the "Eight Ling Kenzai Suisho" published by nihon Shodo Information Co., Ltd. in 1967, which became a historical record.

Yan Gu Liuyi: The most famous calligrapher in Japan during the Meiji period, he was a household name in Japan, and he was a proud protégé of the Chinese Qing Dynasty scholar Yang Shoujing. Yan Gu Liuyi's line has a different flavor, and the line pen shows obvious characteristics of Weibei calligraphy, the knot body is bold and indulgent, and the line pen is also gentle and smooth.
