Red Net Moment, December 7 (Correspondent Tang Yanfei Xie Peili) Recently, the staff of the Liantianhe National Wetland Park Administration in Jianghua Yao Autonomous County, Hunan Province, when monitoring the animal resources of the wetland park, found a group of birds swimming and playing in the river section of the animal monitoring sample line. Experts determined that this group of birds turned out to be a national key protected animal - the Chinese Autumn Sand Duck, with a number of sixteen. This is the first chinese autumn sand duck wild population in Jianghua, located in the southern border of Hunan Province, which is of great significance to the study of the Chinese autumn sand duck population.
The Chinese Autumn Sand Duck, commonly known as the Scaly Autumn Sand Duck, has characteristic scales on the side of the body, and is a national Level I key protected wild animal, which is listed as an endangered (EN) species by the IUCN of the World Conservation Service. It is a rare species left over from the Tertiary glacial period, a living fossil among birds, a rare waterfowl unique to East Asia, and also known as the "giant panda among birds".
Chinese autumn sand duck mainly breeds in parts of northeast China and the southeast of Siberia and the Far East of Russia in a very small number of superior environments, narrow range of survival, strict requirements for water quality and environment, mainly inhabits streams, valleys, meadows, ponds and grasslands in broad-leaved forests or mixed coniferous and broad-leaved forests, generally in small groups of activities, diving for food, the main food for all kinds of small native fish and aquatic insect larvae. At present, the population and survival status are worrying, and there are only about 4,000 in the world.
The appearance of the Chinese autumn sand duck in the Tianhe National Wetland Park indicates that the water quality in the park is excellent, the environment is good, and the biodiversity is becoming more and more abundant.
In recent years, Jianghua has actively practiced the concept of "green water and green mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains", always adhered to the strategy of ecological county, put the construction of ecological civilization in a prominent position, and carried out ecological environmental protection construction in an all-round, all-regional and whole-process manner. It has successively implemented a number of ecological construction projects such as river dredging treatment, ecological restoration of fading zones, and shoreline restoration projects; carried out various forms of science popularization and education activities such as entering schools, communities, science popularization missions, and wetland parks, and more volunteers participated in volunteer service activities such as river patrols and beach cleaning. As a result, the quality and ecological environment of the Water of the Tiantian River have been continuously improved, the public's awareness of the protection of animals and plants has been significantly improved, and many rare birds such as the Chinese Autumn Sand Duck, Mandarin Duck, Water Pheasant, and Cotton Duck have frequently appeared in the Tianhe National Wetland Park.
