On December 5, local time in the United States, Secretary General Jing bo was invited to visit New Mexico and meet with Carol Robertson Lopez, president of the International Association of Sister Cities.

Since 1956, the International Association of Sister Cities has been committed to creating exchanges, creating community influence, and building lifelong friendships. Sister Cities International was founded in 1956 at President Eisenhower's White House Citizens' Diplomatic Conference. Eisenhower envisioned an organization that could become a center of peace and prosperity by connecting people in different cities around the world. By forging these relationships, President Eisenhower deduced that people of different cultures could celebrate and appreciate their differences and build partnerships to reduce the chances of new conflicts.

Adhering to the above principles, the two sides reviewed the history of friendly people-to-people exchanges between China and the United States, and said that they would further deepen bilateral friendly exchanges in education and enhance people-to-people friendship.
