Saifudin: China intends to allow Malaysian students to return to China to continue their studies

Due to the new crown epidemic, the Malaysian students who have been "sitting in the city of distress" for a long time will be expected to "return to China and return to school".

China intends to allow Watsons to return to China to continue their studies

Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Saifdin Abdullah said China intends to allow international students from specific countries, including Malaysia, to return to the country to continue their studies.

He said it was one of the first meetings of the High-level Committee on Post-COVID-19 Cooperation between Malaysia and China, co-chaired by Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

He noted that this accommodation is given priority to students in their final year, as well as students who need to use a laboratory and cannot pass online learning.

Saifudin told Malaysian media: "He (Wang Yi) indicated that they have drawn up a list of countries to allow students from these countries to enter China to continue their studies, and he also told me that Malaysia is at the top of the list.

"He didn't say when the students would be able to return to school, but it was clear from the way they told me that they wanted the matter to be implemented as soon as possible."

He said that about 8,000 Malaysian students were forced to return to China last year due to the spread of the new crown epidemic, and Malaysia is still waiting for details such as the conditions and procedures for the Chinese government to announce the conditions and procedures for chinese students to return to school.

He noted that since most chinese students are self-funded, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will cooperate with alumni organizations in China that have relevant student files to contact students waiting to return to China to continue their studies.

Saifdin said more than 100 Malaysian watsmen remain in China and are in contact with the Malaysian Embassy in Beijing from time to time.
