Striker Erin Haaland was outraged by the referee's decision to not give Borussia Dortmund a penalty in Saturday's 3-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.
Borussia Dortmund asked for penalties twice in one match, with head coach Marco Rose sent off for dissent, but referee Zvaya refused to review the match twice, most notably winger Marco Reus collapsing into the box after an altercation with opposing defender Lucas Hernandez.
"I think it's a scandal on the referee side," Haaland said, "and I asked him (Zwayer) 'Why don't you go and see?'" He said, "No, there's no need.
"I need to calm down a bit now. He's arrogant and I won't say more.
However, when Robert Lewandowski scored from the scene in the 78th minute, previous referee Zvaye awarded a penalty after a VAR check. Zvayer awarded Mats Hummels a handball and Sergi Gnabry's corner kick hit the Dortmund defender's elbow as he appeared to trip.
Zvayer said he saw Hummels' elbow in contact with the ball, but he wasn't sure if the elbow was in or out, so he checked the video footage. He said there was no need to check Reus' penalty appeal because he had a clear picture of the incident and the video referee watching in Cologne did not contradict his decision.
"I had a very clear and definite impression that was eventually checked and confirmed on a monitor in Cologne," Zvayer said.
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Emre Can also expressed his frustration to the referee after the match, saying: "It's a shame such a lame penalty decision. I'm sorry, I had to say that.
"I'm standing here, talking again about the referee's decision. We played a great game today and that happened.
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Brandt opened the goal when he found the top right corner of the goal in the fifth minute, then Bayern striker Thomas Müller chased a bad touch from Hummels, giving Lewandowski a chance, who equalised.
Bayern winger Kingsley Koeman gave his side the lead with a deflected shot at the end of half, but Haaland counter-attacked in the second half to equalise.
Lewandowski then scored a penalty, his 11th league goal in eight games this season.
Bayern coach Julian Nagelsman said after the game: "I think we should win, but I also understand the discussion about the two penalty situations. ”
