Regarding the origin of this story, there are many versions, and some people even think that this fish is not a "carp", but a fish "tuna" in the river and sea, in order to achieve the purpose of scientific explanation, but since it is a mythological story, it does not necessarily have to be explained by science, in this kind of story, one is the Longmen Ancient Town that originated in Nanchong City, Sichuan Province.
Longmen Town is located in Gaoping District, Nanchong City, and is known as the three ancient towns of Nanchong, together with Langzhong Ancient Town and Sima Xiangru's hometown Zhouzi Ancient Town, one of the four ancient cities in China, and the reason why Longmen Ancient Town can be juxtaposed with the former two is precisely because of the birthplace of the story of "Yuyue Longmen". Li Xuezhuang once wrote an article about the legend of the "carp leaping the Dragon Gate" to make a nearly perfect description: whenever there is a flood, the Longmen Gorge is choppy, and the mouth of the gorge forms a sill-shaped wall of water. At this time, the carp is desperately upstream, jumping over the water sill...", does this look like the scene in the story?
In 1983, Professor Qin Guangdao, who was in charge of the science and technology department of the Chinese delegation to the United Nations Organization for Science, Education, Culture and Health, wrote "Reminiscing about the Past in Jiangnan and Paris" during his stay in Paris, praising and missing the longmen ancient town, and also setting off a boom in the study of longmen ancient town. In August 2000, the State Post Bureau issued the "Little Carp Jumping Dragon Gate" miniature special commemorative stamp here for the first time, in fact acknowledging Gaoping Longmen as the source of the folklore of "Carp Jumping Dragon Gate", and Longmen Ancient Town became more famous. Not only that, there is also a "Longmen Middle School" nearby, which not only has a history of nearly a hundred years, but also one of the best schools in Nanchong, and the realistic story of "Fish Leaping Dragon Gate" can be said to be staged here every year.
In addition to the legend of "Fish Leaping Dragon Gate", the history of Longmen Ancient Town is also quite long, and it has been established in the Song Dynasty, which is one of the eighteen towns in Nanchong in the Song Dynasty, and was once very prosperous and lively. In modern times, when ancient and modern intersect, the nine palaces and eighteen temples are full of incense at the same time, the largest silk spinning factory in Nanchong, cotton spinning factory is gathered here, it is said that the most lively time in the ancient town light factory staff of up to 20,000 people, is worthy of the name of "Little Hong Kong", until now, the open space on the dock side of the ancient town is also one of the favorite leisure places of the surrounding residents after tea and dinner, many parents will bring their children to play, there are also open-air tea houses for tea, of course, the stairs by the river are also a good place for little couples to talk about love!
However, with the quiet passage of time, although the ancient town is still so lively, but it is also prosperous to return to tranquility, but also therefore 18 ancient streets and a number of alleys are well preserved, all tile rooms and corridors are connected, and many of the "Nine Palaces and Eighteen Temples" mentioned earlier are also scattered in the ancient town, of which the Dragon King Temple, Anfu Palace are still full of incense, and the Wanshou Palace and guandi temple still exist today, so that longmen ancient town has a historical background. Since it is now close to the end of the year, many people can still be seen on the side of the road who are already filling sausages and preparing New Year goods, full of fireworks.
