Ancient human skeletons found in Siberian caves reveal the Denisovan race

According to the British "Mirror" reported on November 30, recently, a pile of bone fragments was found in the Denisova Cave in Siberia, researchers found 5 ancient human bones in 3791 broken bones, of which 4 can detect which ancient species, 1 is a Neanderthal skeleton, 3 is a Denisovan skeleton.

Studies have shown that the three Denisovan bones found this time are about 200,000 years old. So far, fewer than 10 Denisovan fossils have been found, so this new discovery is very exciting for archaeologists.

Denisovans are only first discovered more than a decade ago, and they look very similar to Neanderthals, but their heads are wider and their jaws are more prominent, and Neanderthals and Denisovans are thought to be the closest archaic humans to modern humans genetically.

It is widely believed that the Denisovans went extinct about 50,000 years ago, however, some scientists reject this claim, arguing that denisovans lived and gave birth to modern humans 15,000 years ago because Denisovan DNA was found in some modern humans.

Katerina Douka, a researcher at the University of Vienna, said: "We specifically explored formations that have never found fossils of ancient humans and are pleased that this time 3 bones of Denisovans have been found in the oldest formation of Denisova Caves. The researchers also found stone tools used by ancient humans, which is evidence that the Denisovans have learned to use stone tools. In addition, there are bones of long-haired rhinos, deer, horses, bison and gazelles in the caves, which infers that denisovans may have hunted and eaten these animals, or may have competed with them for caves and food. "At present, the research of Siberian caves by scientists is still continuing. (Compiled and reported by China Youth Network)
