After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he successively served as the director of the School Affairs Department of the 1st Senior Infantry School of the People's Liberation Army, the director of the Material Support Department of the Logistics College, the deputy director of the Logistics Department of the Railway Corps (1958), the minister (1961-1975), the deputy commander of the Railway Corps (1969-1979) and the director of the Logistics Department.

Zhang Chuangchu (1911-1996), a native of Pingjiang County, Hunan Province, was a founding major general.
He joined the Red Army in 1930 and the Communist Party of China in 1931. In the summer of 1952, he returned to China, recuperated from a recurrence of old wounds in 1954 (he had been wounded in battle 11 times), and was the deputy commander of the Jinan Military Region from 1962 to 1969.

Zhang Lingbin (1902-1987), a native of Pingjiang County, Hunan Province, was a founding lieutenant general.
He joined the Communist Party of China in 1926 and participated in the Autumn Harvest Uprising in 1927.
