On November 25th, I gave the last lesson of the semester at Renmin University. It was a professional course for law school graduate students, and there were four consecutive lectures on the topic "The Responsibility of Judicial Proof". I had planned to discuss the factual claims and burden of proof in civil litigation through two cases in the last hour, but I suddenly found that there was no relevant material for these two cases in the courseware. I couldn't help but feel a little flustered in my heart.
However, after all, I am an old teacher who has stood on the podium for decades, so I casually tell the relationship between factual claims and the burden of proof, and at the same time search my courseware in the computer, and find that the courseware in the USB stick has not been updated, and there are no two cases. Probably after I updated the courseware on my computer at home, I didn't copy it to a USB stick.
I gave up the courseware and started "awkward conversation". According to my memory, I first introduced the events and evidence of the "Bank of China and Depositor Dispute Case", organized the students to discuss the factual claims and the burden of proof in the case, and then introduced the situation of the "Villagers' Loan Dispute Case" and asked the students to express their opinions on the factual claims and the burden of proof in the case.
I don't know if the students noticed that I was "chatting awkwardly." Everyone was very positive and the atmosphere in the classroom was good. Finally, I also talked about some of my own life insights on the "last lesson".
I am nearly old and past retirement age, but Renmin University has not yet allowed me to retire, so I continue to exert my residual heat. However, I may retire at any time, so this class may also become the "last lesson" of my official lecture at Renmin University!

That afternoon, I took the oral exam for the midterm exam for four doctoral students majoring in evidence law. Back at home, it was getting dark. Although I felt tired, I changed into my sportswear and ran two kilometers in the neighborhood as usual. After the bath, I sat in the massage chair and tried to relax, but it was difficult for both energy and physical strength to return to my body.
When people get old, all aspects of body functions will be reduced, and many body parts will also have problems. This semester's lecture tasks are complete, and it is time for me to overhaul my body. The next day was Friday, and I went to the school hospital to hang up the number four in a row: internal medicine, ophthalmology, dentistry and Chinese medicine. Thankfully, it's all a little bit of a bug.
Birth, old age, illness and death are the iron laws of life. Both great people and ordinary people are bound to get sick, they are bound to die, and as they age, their mental and physical strength decay. However, I am currently faced with another dilemma. FIFA informed me to travel to Paris on 18-20 January 2022 to attend the working meetings of the Ethics Committee. I haven't flown in for two years, and now the epidemic in Europe is quite severe. Am I going, or am I not going? Let's get a visa first.
