Marvel talks about Hawkeye moving from movies to episodes to dig deeper into the background

The new Marvel TV series Hawkeye will air on Disney+ on November 24. Hawkeye's first appearance in the MCU was a cameo in the movie "Thor" in which he secretly protected S.H.I.E.L.D.'s research on Thor's Hammer, and is known as the original Avenger in "The Avengers". As one of the six original superheroes of the Avengers in the MCU, Hawkeye is also the only character who has not had an independent movie so far, but Marvel has produced a TV series for the character who became a superhero by his own hard-working skills. Marvel gave the purpose of this in a recent interview.

Marvel talks about Hawkeye moving from movies to episodes to dig deeper into the background

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hawkeye TV series producer Trinh Tran explained why Hawkeye was eventually adapted into a TV series. This, she explains, gives them the flexibility to explore the characters because they have enough time and space to do so. It was for this reason that it was decided to move Hawkeye from the big screen to Disney+.

Prior to this, Marvel president Kevin Feige confirmed that Hawkeye will have a personal movie, but in the end fans are waiting for the TV series. Trinh Tran explains the importance of turning a project into a TV series, which depends entirely on how many stories they have to tell. How so much content is controlled over a two-hour time frame is a big problem. Trinh Tran says the team hasn't explored its backstory yet. So the production team also had to bring in a new character, Kat Bishop, and set aside enough time for them to connect and create the special charm that the two of them would show in the comics.

Although second-generation Hawkeye Kate Bishop (played by Hayley Steinfield) is well known to comic book fans, the Hawkeye TV series is her debut in the MCU. Here, the character is a self-taught archer and Hawkeye fan who disguises herself as a ronin and makes an appearance in Avengers: Endgame, which catches the attention of Clint Patton.

Because there are so many backstories to dig into, it makes sense for Marvel to develop Hawkeye into a TV series rather than a movie, and given the huge success of Wanda Vision and other MCU episodes, they are firm on that plan.

Tran said that "Hawkeye" turned into a TV series, which will give the production team six hours, three times the time to uncover the background of the story, which really gives them the creative flexibility they need to tell the story. But so did the challenges. Marvel has a schedule and the team tries to keep at the same pace in movies and TV series. But things happen faster in TV shows, so teams have to do three times as much in a shorter span of time.
