Sony's "Super Daredevil" earned $44 million in its first weekend to top the North American box office, exceeding the industry's expectations of $30 million to $35 million. This figure is close to the opening performance of the 2016 version (46M), but the production cost is only half that of the previous work.
The Incredibles is the sequel to the classic 1980s sci-fi comedy Ghostbusters. Sony rebooted the film in 2016 with all-female staring, costing $144 million to produce ($75 million for the 2021 version), but failed at the box office. The latest "The Incredibles" made its world premiere at $60 million. The film has a 62% freshness rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a CinemaScore audience rating of A-, which is higher than the B+ of the previous game.
Meanwhile, The Story Biopic "King Richard," produced by Warner and starring Will Smith, ranked fourth at the box office with $5.7 million, well below the $10 million forecast. The film's CinemaScore rating is A, and rotten tomatoes have a freshness rating of 92% – another low-grossing and high-profile work this year: everything but box office. The market for adult films is still far inferior to popcorn and family movies. Will Smith is expected to hit the Oscar for Best Actor of the Year with this film.
"Eternals" ranked second at the box office of $10.8 million in the third week, down 60% year-on-year. North America totaled $135.8 million and globally totaled $336.1 million.
"Big Red Dog Cliff" ranked third with $8.1 million, and North America totaled $33.51 million, and will not be released worldwide until next month.
"Dune" ranked fifth with $3.06 million, currently grossing $98.2 million in North America and is on track to break the $100 million mark this week. The total worldwide box office reached $367.1 million.
"Venom 2" ranked sixth with $2.8 million, with a total of $206.5 million in 52 days of release, and will officially land on the online platform on November 23.
"007: No Time to Die" finally surpassed "Super 9" to become the world's highest-grossing Hollywood movie in 2021. Seven weeks after its release, 007 grossed $734.1 million worldwide ($721.1 million for F9).
Mike Mills' "Calling Friends"
The indie black-and-white film "Call friends" starring Jacqueline Phoenix was released in five theaters in the United States and ranked 17th at the box office with 134447 dollars. The film averaged $26,889 per screen, surpassing France's $25,938 and making it the highest-grossing single-screen film of the year.
