The oil alarm light is on, can the car still drive

Often have friends call me to consult me, the car fault light can not be turned on, I can not give the most perfect answer, generally recommended to the nearest maintenance. However, if you really do not have this condition, you can focus on checking the amount of oil, and always pay attention to whether the oil alarm light is lit, once the oil lamp is lit, it can no longer be opened, and you need to call a trailer. If the oil alarm light is not lit, and the gear and brake functions are normal, you can drive to the nearby auto repair shop at low or medium speed for maintenance, which is the most secure approach.

The oil alarm light is on, can the car still drive

The oil of the car engine is missing too much, the oil pressure is reduced, the oil pressure lamp will alarm, and the dashboard pattern is always on. One of the reasons for the alarm may be because the oil consumption is too large (burning oil); the second is that the oil leakage and loss, resulting in too low oil pressure and alarm. Because of the important role of oil on the engine, no matter what causes the oil lamp to light up, it needs to be paid enough attention. At this time, we need to stop the car on a flat road, pull out the oil gauge to check the oil level, the first time to pull out the oil ruler to wipe off the oil stains, because the movement is bumpy, at this time the oil level will be caused by shaking caused by artificial high. Wipe off the oil stains, insert back into the oil gauge, pull out again, and check the oil level again at this time, which should be between the lowest points to be normal.

If the oil is found to be low after inspection, then carefully check for signs of oil leakage, if there is no sign of oil leakage, you suspect that your car may burn oil. But sometimes, we find that although the oil alarm light is on, the amount of oil is not much, why is this?

First, there may be a false alarm, suspected that the oil pressure sensor is damaged, resulting in the sensor will be the wrong signal to the computer, the computer believes that the current oil pressure is low, so the alarm.

Second, it may be because the oil channel is blocked, resulting in a decrease in the amount of oil transmission.

Third, the oil pump failure. As the heaviest component of the lubrication system, once it is damaged, the oil pressure will inevitably decrease, or even lose the ability to lubricate.

There are three types of automotive oil pumps, namely internal meshing out wheel pumps, external meshing gear pumps and rotor pumps. After looking at the schematics, their principles are clear at a glance.

The mainstream engine oil pump is still an external meshing gear pump and a rotor pump, and an internal meshing gear pump is often used in automatic transmissions.
