Beyond the limitations of self-knowledge - looking at "I am legendary" again has a feeling

author:Ling Huang

I was trapped in the hero's human setting, trapped in the duties of a faithful duty, trapped in the illusion of saving humanity and opposing the alien. Suffer from loss, pain, and suffering. The painful past haunted me, and I supported myself independently, hoping to find a glimmer of life and regain what I had lost.

Beyond the limitations of self-knowledge - looking at "I am legendary" again has a feeling

I am a legend

Watching the movie "I Am Legend" again, I saw some meanings that I had not understood before, which was very inspiring for the present.

We are all within our respective comprehension categories, looking at the world and understanding the plot. And the plot beyond my own cognitive scope can not even leave the slightest memory.

I don't remember how long ago I watched the movie, but the vague impression left was that the male protagonist was the only survivor, surviving alone in the ruined city of the survivors. There are mutated night ghosts in the darkness. The only companion of the male owner is the dog. The dog was also infected and died. Meet the heroine and child who are also survivors. Besides, there are no more impressions.

The general impression left by this movie is that the male protagonist is a lone hero who is still fighting alone in the end of the earth.

Watching the film again, I saw some meaning that I had not understood before.

The male protagonist refuses to believe that there is still hope for mankind. When the tragedy of 90% of the people on the earth being infected occurred, and the male protagonist witnessed the accidental death of his wife and daughter, he fell into deep pain. Images of memories flash back, his pain haunting him, his curses, his regrets, his anger, his path to redemption by finding the antidote.

The male protagonist has been seeking a drug scheme to turn the night ghost back into a human. So he trapped many night ghost individuals and used them to try medicine. The night ghosts who had been tested on drugs died because of the failure of the experiment. The walls are plastered with pictures of the experimenters. He insisted that night ghosts were inferior creatures with no complex emotional function (like humans treat animals by the same standards?). Therefore, he was justified in hunting the night ghost. Only by turning the night ghost back into a human is the right way.

When the heroine appears, with a cross, she pleads with the hero to believe her and believe the signal she got in the darkness: humans still have a survivor base, go to them. The male protagonist was in a state of anger and pain, and angrily rejected her.

Three contests between the night ghost leader and the male protagonist

The first contest: The male protagonist sets a trap and catches the female night ghost. The night ghost leader chased after the sun, even if burned by the sun, to express his anger. The male protagonist did not react to this anger signal at this time, because from his point of view, the night ghost had no complex emotions and was a low-level animal.

The second contest: The leader of the night ghost sets the same trap for the male protagonist, and the male protagonist puts on the sleeve and barely escapes from physical injuries. At this time, the male protagonist began to truly understand the intelligence of the night ghost - complex thinking ability.

The third contest: The leader of the male protagonist's night ghost has a plan and a plan to attack the door of the house with a large number of night ghosts, and in anger, he violently hits the glass door with his head and is about to rush into the laboratory. The male protagonist finally admitted in his heart: the night ghosts have appeals, and they have the same abundant emotions as humans - complex emotional functions. At this moment, the female night ghost is lying on the operating table, and the wall is plastered with pictures of dead night ghosts. The male protagonist really began to let go of his attachment and began to "listen" to the other party. Listen to them. Feeling guilty, he had always thought that his actions had irrefutable legitimacy, and now he had completely collapsed. Seeing himself in the eyes of the night ghost was tantamount to a cruel demon.

Observing these three contests in its entirety, we can see the process of the male protagonist gradually untying from his own inherent beliefs. From insisting on their own legitimacy, insisting on what they think of the world, and firmly killing night ghosts, taking them as test subjects. To see and admit that the night ghost is also another kind of existence, no lower than human beings, and see the night ghost in the eyes of the self.

Unbinding from inherent cognition is tantamount to re-understanding the world.

At the time of writing, it was stored in the computer for a week. Suddenly, one day, one thing in my inherent cognition also loosened.

I've always been keen to criticize my family, or rather, my parents and brothers. Criticize my dad, why can't you take care of the family like someone else's dad? Why do things so impulsive, decisions that are clearly ill-conceived? Criticizing my mother, why can't I have a little wisdom, like other mothers, can adjust the harmonious atmosphere of the family? Why do you have to fight to win or lose? And my brother, why can't you be a little angry, take the idea yourself, and take responsibility for yourself?

I'm always criticizing. And rightly so, rightly so. Just like the male protagonist who hunts down the night ghost, full of justice.

I didn't think about what they thought of me, I didn't think about how they felt about being sharply criticized by me. How do the hunted night ghosts feel?

Then I thought about it from this perspective:

"This daughter with sharp teeth, it really hurts to poke people's hearts when she speaks"

"Is she so disgusted with us, by her parents?"

"I've done so much for her, isn't there anything to be thankful for?"

......

The world opened up another side that had always been blinded to me.

I can't stand up straight. It turned out that my family had been bullied by me like this.

If you also feel like you're in your world, you're 100 percent right, righteous, and unquestionable. Then look at the movie and think about whether there's another side to something that's "absolutely right" about you.
