To be honest, I don't think either ending is "legendary" enough.
The first, Wei Guangzheng, a fearless heroic plot, may fall into the cliché. The second, suddenly changed the basic setting of the nocturnal creatures, and people were shocked.

Where, exactly, is the legend?
Later, I learned that "I Am Legend" is actually a film based on the novel of the same name. The reason why the movie will have two endings, there will be two such endings, also has a certain relationship with the original work. In the original book, the protagonist Neville is indeed glorious, and in the original work, the nocturnal creatures do have the same wisdom as humans. But the ending of the original work is not a simple splicing of the two endings of the movie version. After reading the original work, you will truly appreciate why "I am a legend".

In the end, Neville did not capture the nocturnal creature as in the movie, but was captured by the nocturnal creature and tied to the stake.
Taken together, the film "I Am Legend" can only be regarded as a fan work of the novel at best, there are too many differences, and even some cores have undergone major changes due to changes in the plot.
Why should I say that movies are not legendary enough compared to novels. Because Neville in the novel is the last human being in the true sense of the word. And the legend of Neville in the movie is told by humans who have only known him for a day, but the legend of him in the novel is shown by the nocturnal creatures who fight with him every day.
Although most of the novel is not about how legendary Neville is, it is at the end that the sudden switch of perspectives makes me finally understand the unashamed title of I Am Legend.
