On May 19, 2000, the criminal police team of the blacksmith battalion's responsibility area again sent people to Jingxian county to squat and control, and found out that the house left by "Cheng Chen" had been sold to Li Mou, a self-employed transporter in Daqiao Village, Longhua Town, Jingxian County, and the formalities were handled through an agent, and the agent still used a false identity. When the investigators checked the account of "Cheng Chen", they found that the hukou of his wife Sun Mouyan and his son Cheng Mou had been moved to the home of Sun Mou, a primary school teacher at No. 1, Zhenbao Street, Taocheng District, Hengshui City, Hebei Province. After investigation, Sun Moumou is the sister of Cheng's wife Sun Mouyan, and her husband Lu Mou is a teacher of Hengshui Staff Education Center. After research, the investigators believe that Sun Moumou is Sun Mouyan's sister, and if he contacts her well, he will leak the news; while Lu Mou is a relatively decent person and a reserve party member, if he talks to him through the party branch, it is very likely to tell the truth. Therefore, with the consent of the leader of the criminal investigation detachment, Lu mou was secretly summoned for questioning with the cooperation of the party branch of the Hengshui City Staff Education Center.
In the face of questioning, Lu admitted that he had a good relationship with Cheng Zhanming, the eldest sister Sun Mouyan and nephew Cheng Mouming's hukou did fall in his home, but Cheng Zhanming's hukou did not follow, and Ping Su did not live in his home, and he really did not know where he lived. According to the information provided by Lu, the investigators, with the cooperation of the relevant departments of Hengshui City, checked and controlled the long-distance telephone records of Lu's family and found that there was a fixed call number area code belonging to Puyang City, thus confirming Lu's statement that Cheng Zhanming's family was likely to be in Puyang. Therefore, the leader of the Hufengtai Criminal Investigation Detachment personally led a team of investigators from Beijing to Puyang on April 23 to arrest them. With the assistance of the Puyang Municipal Public Security Bureau, it was found that there is indeed a clothing wholesale market in Puyang County, 8 kilometers south of Puyang City, and with the cooperation of the market management department, it was found that the telephone number of the Puyang area code in Lu's home was the fixed telephone number of booth 1394 in this market, which can be confirmed: Cheng Zhanming is selling clothing in this clothing wholesale market, and the information provided by Lu is accurate.
However, the stall owner of Booth 1394 is not Cheng Zhanming, but ning Mou, a local. Fengtai police investigators secretly summoned Ning on April 23, Ning said: his wife Man has an aunt and cousin named "Cheng Chen", one day in January 2001, "Cheng Chen" took his wife and children to find Man, under the introduction of Man, rented a stall in the clothing market to sell clothing, the location is 50 meters west of Ning's booth No. 1394, contact sellers and buyers are using the fixed telephone of Ning's booth. They rented at No. 10 Chengguan Street, about 100 meters west of the clothing market, the dormitory of the Armed Forces Department of Puyang County.
That night, investigators from the Fengtai District Criminal Investigation Detachment surrounded the dormitory of the Puyang County Armed Forces Department with the cooperation of the Puyang City and the Puyang County Public Security Bureau, and when they found Cheng Zhanming's room and broke through the door, Cheng Zhanming, who was 39 years old at the time, was still watching TELEVISION, and was not mentally prepared for the arrival of the police, so he tied his hands on the spot. After a surprise interrogation on the spot, he confessed to the crime of burglary and murder in WanyuanNanli, Fengtai East Highland 16 years ago.
