However, SAIC MG has uncharacteristically created a "new fuel force", which is to put it bluntly, a fuel-powered, sharp-shaped, and quasi-intelligent SUV with a new energy vehicle style, which is MG ONE.
Such positioning determines that there is no attraction, no matter how its configuration is; it is interesting that the configuration of this car is not high, such as the currently announced α high-end version has a head air curtain, other versions only have side airbags; medium and high equipped with auxiliary driving configuration, intelligent car machine supports the Internet of Vehicles and OTA, the overall level and competitors have no advantage.
Fuel-powered SUVs in the range of 100,000-150,000 still have a lot of hot-selling cars, such as Haval H/F series and big dog, Geely Boyue and Xingyue L, Changan CS series and UNI-T/K; the era of fuel vehicles is not completely over, so even if MG ONE still uses internal combustion engines, it seems that it can make a fuss in the "old market".
However, one's engine and transmission are really regrettable, including the price.

It is not easy to understand MG's intentions, first of all, a compact SUV with a size of 4579*1866*1617 and a wheelbase of 2670mm that only has a 1.5T option will not be a popular option; because the starting price of the competitor's same displacement option has been as low as 800,000-100,000 range, of which there are engines with power torque exceeding or reaching 130kw/300N·m, which is somewhat advantageous compared to the 133kw/285N·m level of the MG 15C4E 1.5T. Therefore, the power of MG ONE is not competitive, and the price is in the range of 130,000-150,000, which is already the main performance of the Otto cycle and the Miller cycle 2.0T-SUV that takes into account both performance and fuel consumption, take a small displacement engine against the competitors, large displacement performance car, which is not measured, Chery has made such a setting in the two series of Tiggo and Xingtu, and the result is that the sales are not bad.
Stepless transmission - CVT should not be used for domestic cars with a price of more than 100,000, this transmission has many shortcomings, such as short service life, low transmission efficiency, low temperature start needs to be in situ heat car, etc., whether the control of fuel consumption or the convenience of the car are not ideal. Therefore, the excellent domestic SUV that coincides with the price of MG ONE basically uses automatic transmissions that are high-efficiency wet dual-clutch or 6-8AT, as well as hybrid vehicles with E-CVT architecture that use direct drive mode and basically do not count transmissions.
The gap is evident.
MG Automobile once also took plug-in hybrid as the direction of technology research and development, and when it was used in EDU applications, the Great Wall and Chery's 2-3DHT had not yet been developed; but this system had five physical forward gears of the internal combustion engine and two forward gears of the motor, which comprehensively reached 10AMT, and the level was leading. Now if you can continue to build plug-in hybrids, perhaps the competitiveness will be much stronger, and on the contrary, going back to the fuel vehicle camp seems to be a technical regression.
MG, as one of SAIC's troikas, seems to be less and less valued.
