The reign of Zhenguan appeared from 627 to 649, which coincided with the reign of Li Shimin of Tang Taizong in the early Tang Dynasty, and because its era name was Zhenguan, people regarded the political clarity, economic recovery, and cultural prosperity that appeared during this period as the "rule of Zhenguan". The emergence of the rule of Zhenguan made the Tang Dynasty begin to move towards a peaceful era in which the people were safe and secure, and the people had no worries about food and clothing, which also laid an important foundation for the later Tang Dynasty's Kaiyuan prosperity, and also pushed the traditional Chinese agricultural society to a prosperous period.
In the early days of the founding of the Tang Dynasty, it was actually a mess of the Sui Dynasty, when due to the great construction of the Sui Emperor, frequent wars were launched, resulting in countless deaths and injuries among the people, and finally the fall of the country left a mess of tatters, the people's livelihood was withered, and the population was only more than 2 million households to the Tang Dynasty. Later, Li Yuan and Li Shimin of the Tang Dynasty rebelled against the Sui Dynasty, unified the Central Plains and the South, and established the Tang Dynasty, creating conditions for the emergence of the rule of Zhenguan. Although during the Zhenguan period, the people lived a stable life, the country was stable, and the world was peaceful, but it was not as prosperous as imagined, and there was still a certain gap compared with the Sui Dynasty's empress period, after all, this was a mess left by the Sui Emperor. According to the law of agricultural social development, ten years of gathering, ten years of education, after a big war, it takes at least twenty years for the economy to fully recover, so during the Zhenguan period, the Tang Dynasty was completely brought to a heyday. Wei Zheng once made this evaluation of the eastern region of Luoyang: "The east of Yiluo, the sea of Jihu, the huge zee of Mang, the vast thousand miles, the population is cut off, the chickens and dogs do not smell, the roads are depressed, and the retreat is difficult." This means that in the eastern part of Luoyang, the economy is still very depressed, there is no one on the road, the chickens and dogs do not hear, and the roads are very depressed.
However, the rule of chastity reflects the aspect of "governance", which is why it is not called "the prosperity of chastity". Most of the Tang Dynasty was fought by Li Shimin with his troops, he can be said to be the most meritorious and able to serve the people, Li Shimin personally witnessed the rise and fall of the Great Sui, the process of the collapse of the Sui Dynasty in the peasant war, and clearly knew the importance of the peasant class to the stability of the absolute monarchy, so he often took the Sui Emperor as a negative teaching material, and often warned himself and his subordinate officials that they must learn the lessons of the demise of the Sui Dynasty, in order not to repeat the same mistakes, Tang Taizong adjusted the ruling policy, strictly practiced economy at home, so that the people can rest and recuperate, Thus alleviating class contradictions and stabilizing the social order. I have to admit that Li Shimin still has two brushes, whether it is leading troops to fight or governing the country. So what is tang Taizong's superiority?
After learning the lessons of the demise of the Sui Dynasty, the brilliant Li Shimin, with the assistance of Wei Zheng and others, gradually changed from a young and vigorous young monarch to a modest and cautious monarch, and also had the arrogance of the world and the virtue of obedience, allowing Li Shimin to govern the Li Tang Dynasty with great sound. Many of us believe that the demise of the Sui Dynasty was the problem of the Sui Emperor, but Tang Taizong believed that the Sui Emperor Yang Jian was also a problem, although the Sui Wen Emperor was very diligent, but the Sui Wen Emperor had a characteristic, that is, "sex to the point of detection and unclear mind". This led to Emperor Wen of Sui's inaccurate use of people, easy to suspect others, so he had to do everything personally, and always worried that others would one day plot against his own Jiangshan and snatch his own Jiangshan, there was no general around him who could be trusted, and the foundation was unstable, so under the toss of the Sui Emperor, the subjugation of the country became an inevitable. Compared with Emperor Wen of Sui, Emperor Taizong believed that the vastness of the world, the multitude of the four seas, the thousands of things, must be combined and flexible, all entrusted to the hundred divisions for consultation, the prime minister planned, and the matter was stable before it could be played. He believes that there are so many things in the world that it is certainly impossible to manage it with the strength of one person, and the strength of many officials and people should be brought into play, and everyone should brainstorm their wisdom so that the country can be better governed.
We all know that the country is based on the people, and the people take food as the sky. When Tang Taizong was governing the country and restoring the production economy, he was equally sympathetic to the people, concerned about the people's livelihood, lightly dispensed with small gifts, and rested with the people, mainly reflected in the equalization of the field system and the rent and maid system. Li Shimin stipulates that zhongnan over the age of 18 and Ding men over the age of 23 can grant 80 mu of land as the mouth divided field and 20 mu of Yongye field, which has to be said to be really much, of which the mouth field belongs to the state ownership system, and the yongye field is a private land, which belongs to the people's own land, and does not need to be returned to the state after death.
Tang Taizong had his own set of methods and theories in governing the Tang Dynasty, which made the Tang Dynasty enter a period of stable development, the people had no worries about food and clothing, there was no pain of war, and during his 23-year reign, people's quality of life was upgraded by several grades.
