Many years ago, due to high fever and excessive retinal detachment induced by working eyes, he was completely blind in his right eye and had only 0.01 vision in his left eye.
Although his daily life has been seriously affected, Lu Wenjian has made extraordinary achievements in his education post: he has won more than 100 awards and honors such as the Top Ten Teachers who Touched Chinese Education, the Ten Masters of Henan Province, and the Ma Yun Rural Teacher Award.

Polar News Reporter: How serious is your visual impairment? How do you work when you can't see clearly?
Lu Wenjian: I can see a faint light, but no matter how familiar I am, as long as I don't speak, I don't know who he is, and I can't see the words in the textbook. In the process of work, others read to me and prepare lessons, there are students under my guidance, assist me in grading homework, privately I spend energy to organize teaching, tell by memory, and write blackboard words by feeling. Over the years, I have formed the habit of going to the classroom in the morning to listen to the children's morning reading, running morning exercises with the children, and then going to the canteen to eat together, spending most of the time together. In recent years, I have had a little problem with my legs and feet, and the doctor warned me not to exercise strenuously, so I didn't run anymore.
Jimu News: What caused the visual impairment at that time?
Lu Wenjian: In August 1994, due to a high fever and excessive retinal detachment caused by work use, the right eye was completely blind and the vision in the left eye was only 0.01, and the doctor said that I could no longer teach. I was only 23 years old at the time, my dream was to teach, and when I heard the news, it was like a thunderbolt on a sunny day. At that time, I was in love with my girlfriend, the other party was good-looking, had a degree, and was also a teacher, I had a visual impairment, so I proposed to break up with her, but she did not agree, but has been by my side to support me, and finally we got married. And my students have always supported me and want me to return to school. With their support, I finally decided that I would return to the podium.
Pole News: Why choose to teach history? Does this have anything to do with your optimistic personality?
Lu Wenjian: I am very interested in many historical figures and deeds. I think some historical stories can inspire people to grow, from a certain point of view, some knowledge students may learn and forget, but if you can from some historical stories and characters, let students be inspired, stimulate their potential, will make them use endlessly for a lifetime. At the same time, I myself was inspired and influenced. In fact, after my vision impairment, I also had negative and pessimistic emotions, but I understand that in addition to bringing obstacles to myself, this emotion will also affect the people around me, and after that experience, I have always been very strong and optimistic.

Especially love rural children
Jimu News: You once said that you want to dedicate your life to the education you love, why do you love education so much?
Lu Wenjian: The reality is that I can't do anything else. But to be honest, I do love teaching and loving children. To say that the love of the education industry, in fact, from a young age, I have a dream of a teacher, and then I studied teacher training in college, and when I was assigned a job after graduation in 1992, there was a high school in the county at that time to want me, but I insisted on choosing a rural junior high school, I loved children, especially loved rural children, I felt that they were in the junior high school stage, which was a key period that needed guidance, and I did not expect that this work was 30 years.
Jimu News: Why do you have such deep feelings for children, especially for rural children?
Lu Wenjian: Maybe it's the mutual influence. I remember when I first graduated and walked to the podium, I didn't have a family at that time, I was with my students almost every day, and I felt the love of my children for me. After class, the students often pestered me and said, "The teacher will talk a little longer, and then a little more." "The after-school office was also crowded with students, asking me for instruction, or chatting. The children's innocent love of knowledge gives me a lot of strength. I did not treat the students with a violent temper, never scolded them, frightened them, in their eyes, is a kind father. Of course, behind this, there may be a kind of respect. Arguably, there are almost no students that I hate, dislike, or resent. The reason why I especially love rural children is because I am also born in the countryside, so I pay more attention to the fate of rural children. I also had a dream of being a teacher, so I studied hard and went to college to become a teacher. However, in reality, not many rural children can be admitted to key high schools, and many students enter the society after graduating from junior high school, because they have not learned more cultural knowledge, and they have done nothing in their lives. On the other hand, I think that rural children, simple and lovely, have a simple heart, and I hope that I can have some beneficial influence on their future.
Jimu News: What are your plans for the future?
Lu Wenjian: I have two children in my family, the eldest son has already started a family after graduating from college, and the younger son will graduate from graduate school next year, so I don't need to worry much about it.
