Kevin Garnett: I joined Boston differently than Durant joining the Warriors or LeBron joining the Heat

At the time, the league was happy to see the three legends teaming up to fight for the title, but after 2010, public perceptions changed and now super teams are considered a bad thing. It all started when LeBron James joined Miami in 2010 to form the Super Big Three with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh.

Kevin Durant got worse when he joined the Golden State Warriors in 2016, creating one of the strongest teams of all time. LeBron and Durant formed the Big Three as a key reason fans and retired players dislike super teams.

In discussing the issue, Garnett didn't think he and his teammates had done anything wrong. It's just LeBron, Durant imitating what they see.

In an interview with Sean Highkin of Bleacher Report, Kevin Garnett explained why he thinks his situation with the Minnesota Timberwolves is different from LeBron of Cleveland and Durant of Oklahoma City.

Garnett said: "Have you heard any criticism leBron encountered when he went to The Golden State in Miami or Kevin Durant? He couldn't do it alone, so he had to team up. ” "I think I'm different from the Kevin Durant situation or the LeBron situation. Whether we like to admit it or not, LeBron is and has been the face of the league. It's true. So he couldn't do it in Cleveland (win the championship) with a big asterisk next to his name. Before I decided to go to Boston, I felt like I had been proven. We got together just to see what would happen."

Garnett acknowledged that going to the Celtics led to more players looking for super teams, explaining that the team wanted to emulate the Detroit Pistons in creating championships with five good players, but now the team wants to take that approach to the next level and use All-Star players to form a talented team.

Currently, the Brooklyn Nets and los Angeles Lakers are two super teams, and they balance each other in some way. Super teams aren't going away anytime soon, but creating a team doesn't guarantee they'll win titles effortlessly.
