This picture depicts the scene of the New Year's celebration and reunion of the family in the Qing Dynasty. The joyful atmosphere of the New Year celebration is vividly described, the elders sit in the front hall and chat about the sky, watching the children and grandchildren playing in the hall full of joy, the women are busy preparing a rich Chinese New Year's Eve meal, busy in the front hall and backyard, the children are playing all kinds of games in front of the court, they play Taiping drums, blowing sheng, banging gongs and drums, playing hanging silk puppets, and so on, so that the courtyard is full of joyful atmosphere.

Yao Wenhan (姚文汉), courtesy name Maoting (18th century AD), was a native of Suncheon (present-day Beijing), whose year of birth and death is unknown. During the Qianlong period, it was dedicated to the inner court, gongdao interpretation, figures, landscapes, and boundary paintings.
