It is the autumn tea making season, and the tea in Tingyang Village, Baiyang Township, Zhao'an County, is overflowing with tea.
Zhao'an is one of the key tea-producing counties in Fujian Province, with a long history of tea production, and is the origin and main production area of the Eight Immortals Tea Plant variety. As of 2020, the county's tea planting area is 53,000 mu, with an annual output of 13,700 tons and an annual output value of 1.4 billion yuan. Among them, the area and output of Eight Immortals Tea account for more than 80%, which is the pillar industry of local agricultural and rural economic development and rural revitalization. On September 8 this year, Zhao'an won the title of "The Hometown of Eight Immortals Tea in China".
Tingyang Village is the birthplace of Eight Immortals Tea, which is named "Eight Immortals Tea" because it is planted on the Eight Immortals Mountain. Eight Immortals Tea is the first newly selected and successful national oolong tea fine species after the founding of New China, and the oolong tea made from it has a high and long-lasting aroma, resistance to brewing and unique flavor. Tingyang Village is a well-known Eight Immortals Tea Industry Village, and the eight immortals produced by the eight immortals tea have won awards in domestic and foreign quality evaluations for many times. At present, the whole village grows about 1500 acres of eight immortal tea, and there are 52 eight immortal tea factories, with an annual output value of 30 million yuan.
