In the thirteenth year of Qing Daoguang, Wu Songliang had a verse of "The newly brewed prickly pear invites a drunk, full of fragrant rice for three years", eating rice for three years is not worth drinking a prickly pear wine, happy and happy. In the late Qing Dynasty, Mo Youzhi had the famous sentence of "Prickly Pear" that "the shape is difficult to fit the eyes, the flavor is comfortable", the appearance is not good, it is sour and sweet to eat, and the eyebrows are stretched.

The most widely preached today is the Qingyan Zhuangyuan Zhao Yijiong's "Yong Prickly Pear" during the Qing Guangxu period.

Zhao Yijiong, also spelled Zhongying, also spelled Helin, was born in February of the seventh year of Qing Xianfeng (1857), a native of Qingyan, Guiyang. In the fifth year of qing guangxu (1879), in the twelfth year of Guangxu (1886), he was the first person in the first place of the first rank of the temple examination, the middle zhuangyuan, and the great kui tianxia, becoming the first person in the two provinces of Yunnan and Guizhou to "win the championship with the title and the first" since the imperial examination. Together with Cao Weicheng of wuzhuangyuan during the Kangxi dynasty, Xia Tonghe of the Majiang people of wenzhuangyuan during the Guangxu period, and Yang Zhaolin of Zunyi people, they were called "three zhuangyuan and one tanhua" in Guizhou in the Qing Dynasty.

Zhao Yijiong was the first person in Yunnan-Guizhou Province to "win the championship with the title and the first" since the imperial examination. This poem was composed by Zhao Yijiong when he was a child, and his talent first appeared. The first two sentences of the poem read, "Born in the mountains and not in the basin, Shuyan refuses to enter the Zhu Gate." It is about prickly pears born in the wild mountains, the flowers are gorgeous and dazzling, but they are reluctant to enter the "high gate" to do the "temperament" of "greenhouse flowers". "But he brewed wine with Longjing, and paid tribute to the Tang Dynasty to inherit the holy grace." The "Longjing" in the third sentence is a thousand-year-old well in Qingyan Ancient Town; the fourth sentence tells about the fine wine made of prickly pear and Longjing Spring, which is used as a tribute to the court. It can be seen that Zhao Yijiong's ardent love for prickly pears and the noble character of prickly pears.

Zhao Yijiong's life

After Zhao Yijiongzhong became a champion, he was appointed as the editor of the Hanlin Academy. In the fourteenth year of Guangxu (1888), he served as the deputy examiner of the Sichuan Township Examination, in the seventeenth year of Guangxu (1891) he served as the viceroy of Guangxi Xuezheng, and in the twenty-first year of Guangxu (1895) he returned to Beijing to serve as the examiner of the Ceremonial Examination Shuntiantong. In the twenty-sixth year of Guangxu (1900), after Zhao Yijiong died of illness in his mother Zhao Santai Chen, Ding You returned to his hometown to keep filial piety for three years and lectured at the Xuegu Academy. After the expiration of his term, he entered Beijing in the twenty-ninth year of Guangxu (1903) and resumed his post, but because he felt that his career was difficult, he resigned his official post and returned to his hometown to teach in Qingyan.

In August of the thirty-second year of Guangxu (1906), Zhao Yijiong died of illness at the age of 49 at qingyan's home.

Zhao Yijiong's life, in addition to the fame of the world, did not have much record of achievements in the later career, and the complex environment in the capital was complex, and he had no intention of fighting with each other and resigning from the government with illness, which also revealed his frank character of indifferent fame and fortune.

Zhao Yijiong used his talents to learn and write a page in the eternal history of Guizhou, but he died young, which is a pity.
